~Chapter 17~
~How he Came to Be~
"Luke," Zyra's voice spoke in my head. "Luke, you need to concentrate. Try and stay conscious!"
It's too late, I wanted to say to her, but I couldn't. Instead, another voice spoke, a voice that sounded a lot like mine but I didn't have any control over it. "Ow... Zyra, is that you?"
"Of course it's me!"she said angrily. "Luke, don't give in! I'm coming for you."
"You don't need to do that," the voice said again.
"Luke, you aren't sacrificing yourself. I'm at the gate now."
"Don't, Zyra." The voice was calm and even. I tried to protest. Yeah, I want to be rescued! I wanted to say. Get me out of here! But I heard nothing of that in my head. "I can save myself."
"Don't be ridiculous. You can't summon yourself back to Laistrynia!"
"But I can. And who's to say I'm Luke, sister? I'm Swanicaa."

A few minutes later I woke up in a beautiful garden.
Zyra was standing there, dumbfounded, but she quickly came to her senses.
"Luke... oh, Luke, your back," she said, and bent down to examine it. All I could concentrate on was not passing out again from the pain. My vision was red. When she touched my spine, I'm pretty sure I screamed.
"The vertebrae... by Jove, you need help!" she said. She bent down further and touched my scalp. When she took her fingers away, they were red.
She picked me up in her arms, which were surprisingly strong. She carried me out of the garden into a bedroom and lay me down on a soft bed. Someone, I didn't see who, came to my other side and laid their hands on me. I blacked out.
When I awoke again, my back and head had healed. Zyra was sitting beside me.
"How, Luke?" She said, shaking her head. "No normal person could survive a head and back injury like that, or at least survive and not come back insane and crippled. One of your vertebrae was sticking out of your back! Tylioct has never treated a wound like that on a mortal before."
I looked beside me. There was a man standing there in a doctor's coat, with a friendly face and pale grey eyes.
"Allow me to introduce myself," he said. "I am Tylioct, God of healing."
"But you look so normal," I said.
"Could you please leave us for a moment?" Zyra asked before the God had a chance to get engry at me. He left the room, grumbling.
"Luke, that wasn't you speaking to me earlier," Zyra said in a hushed voice.
"I know," I said. "It was Swanicaa. But how?"
"There is a possibility," she said. "Something that could explain how you came to be. How your talents developed so."
She stopped, and looked right at me with an excited look in her eyes. "Luke, you may contain the spirit of Swanicaa."
