Chapter 5
~I Get Another History~
Lesson and Meet the
~Relatives~
That was quite a dream, I thought as I stretched and opened my eyes.
No way, I thought again, this time in disbelief, for my eyes had found the chocolate waterfall. It wasn't a dream: everything that had happened yesterday was real.
Zyra... she was real, too.
I sat up and almost knocked my breakfast off my lap. I looked down and found Belgian waffles and bacon resting artfully on a tray. How did the staff here know exactly what I wanted? Was there some sort of mind-cam that they used to pluck information from my head? Whatever they did, the finishing result tasted great. I wasn't too pleased, though, when Zyra's head popped up on my television screen.
"Good morning!" she said brightly. I almost choked on my breakfast.
"Mwa ah oo ooing oh my ee vee?" I asked with a mouth full of food.
She scowled at me. "Chew and swallow before you talk next time. I request for you to meet me in my throne room at eleven o' clock. Please do not be late." Her face disappeared.
I looked down at myself: somebody had replaced my clothes with comfortable pyjamas while I was sleeping. I didn't like that. I decided to point it out to the servants next time I saw them.
I polished off my breakfast and found a comfortable pair of jeans, T-shirt and sweatshirt in my wardrobe.
I still had an hour before I had to visit the throne room, but I decided to look for the throne room in case I got lost. I was lucky I did: forty-five minutes had passed and I found myself in what seemed to be the laundry room.
Apparently, it was normal for twelve year old kids to be in the laundry room, because nobody looked up from there work. Well, ok, everyone had there backs to me, but still. I stepped up cautiously to the nearest maid.
"Excuse me?" I asked. "Do you know where Zyra's throne room is?"
She turned around, and I almost ruined my nice new jeans. The woman had the head of an eagle. She screeched at me, something that was probably like, "Get lost, human kid!" in her language, and I ran out of the room.
I was still running five minutes later. I paused to catch my breath. I looked around, and I cursed. How could she be here?
"Hello!" Hannah said, walking up to me.
"Uh, hi."
"It must be fate that we'd meet in a place like this," she said. "Are you lost?"
"Um..."
"Of course, our fates must be tied together, so we can't go very far from each others' sides!"
"You wouldn't happen to know where Zyra's throne room is?" I blurted out quickly before she had a chance to say more freaky stuff about our fates and being together. Seriously, what was wrong with that girl?!
She giggled. "Everybody knows that, Luke Swan. Just go out the main gates and hang a left!"
How did she know my full name? Was there an app for finding your crush's name? Had she downloaded it?
I thanked her and continued quickly on my way. I found the exit soon enough: silver doors twenty feet tall, studded with blue gems. Why was everything in the palace silver and blue? Was it just because Zyra liked those colours? Whatever the case, the doors opened automatically and I stepped into the garden I had seen yesterday. The giant, platinum gates opened automatically too, and I entered Laistrynia for the first time.
