You hated it when you got caught up in your reflection. It was unavoidable sometimes, and that forced you to come face to face with your severely internalized self loathing. Right now was yet another occasion where you found yourself staring at the mirror with that exact feeling of loathe, looking your body over in the reflective piece of your hall as you turned from side to side to view yourself from all angles. You could only frown as you s=looked, pulling tight at your obi to make yourself appear thinner than you were. The sigh of disappointment that left your lips pierced the silence of your home and really emphasized your displeasure. Even after all these years, you still managed to be upset with your body. It was truly a curse.
Something else disturbed the silence of your home besides your sigh though, and you whipped around to face your front door when you heard the screen slide over. Your initial fear response was quickly replaced with relief as the familiar glint of purple hair was caught in your vision, indicating that Denjiro had come for an unexpected visit. His presence was always welcome, so you relaxed as he made his way into your home.
"Surprise _______~. I hope you don't mind the sudden visit." Denjiro greeted you.
"Not at all. You know you're always welcome in my home." You nodded pleasantly.
"How are you doing tonight, darling?" He asked.
"Mmm, not bad, but not necessarily great either." You admitted. "I'm sure your night was far more interesting than mine. How was your nightly thievery? I hope you weren't spotted~"
"Of course I wasn't. It was successful as always." He chuckled, coming to stand behind you and bend down to be in the reflection with you. "Looking beautiful as always, my dear." He then commented, kissing the top of your head.
"Ah, I'm not entirely sure about that one." You chuckled dryly, not bothering to hide that wave of negativity you currently rode.
Denjiro seemed baffled by your words, affectionately bringing his arms around your waist to hug you close as he wore a concerned expression. "Why would you think such a thing _______?" He asked you.
"I don't know. My insecurities are acting up again I guess." You answered quietly.
Your answer made Denjiro press his lips together firmly, almost hurt that you thought of yourself in such a way. He squeezed you a bit tighter and then picked you up, making you gasp a little as he led you against his chest. There was a tiny frown present on his face as he carried you into your room, sitting down on the floor with his back against the wall and you in his lap. He rested his chin on top of your head as he held you lovingly, caressing one of your hands in his.
"I find it hard to believe that there isn't one thing you like about yourself darling." He mumbled sweetly.
"Well... There really isn't. I actually find it quite hard to love any one part of myself." You responded quietly.
"Impossible. I find you absolutely gorgeous, and I always have." He reassured.
"If you saw all of me, you might change your opinion. I know you haven't seen everything, so that chance still exists." You said, furthering your negativity.
"I would never say such a thing. Even if I haven't seen you in your most vulnerable state, or seen you in years for the matter, you are perfect to me. Nothing about you could change that." He told you firmly.
"That's what they all say." You scoffed.
"I am not all. I am your lover, and I do not take matters such as this lightly. You are the most important person in my life _______." He said.
"Would you like to then? See all of me, I mean. See everything you haven't, and all I have to offer." You asked.
"If you permit me to, and you are comfortable with doing so, then yes." He answered.
