Cheyenne opened her eyes and saw a blinding light. The light materialized into a meadow and she stared in awe.

A light wind blew and Cheyenne walked further into the meadow. Flowers of bright blues, reds, pinks, and yellows bloomed all around and she grabbed a handful, smelling the sweet fragrance of honey.

A willow tree stood in the middle of the meadow and Cheyenne stopped and sat under it basking in the shade. The sun went behind the clouds and they started rolling in. The air smelled of freshly washed linens and Cheyenne knew rain was coming. A boom and a flash of lightning went off in the sky and she ran from under the old tree. Her brown hair blew in the wind fiercely and the meadow disappeared and materialized into an empty road.

A car was smashed up against a pole and snow was falling slowly. A girl appeared to be laying on the hood of the car, the glass shattered and laying everywhere. A boy was screaming but Cheyenne heard no sound. Then time slowed and the car moved backwards then forwards as Cheyenne watched the car crash unfold.

Cheyenne eyes welled up with tears as she walked closer to see who it was. There in the driver's seat Josh was sitting and screaming at the girl. Cheyenne walked around to the passenger side and looked at the girl, surprised to see it was her and then everything came flooding back.

The Christmas party. Josh talking on the phone. The semi ramming into the back of the car and pushing the car down the road into a telephone pole. Cheyenne remembered feeling her body going through the windshield and although she was unconscious, she still felt the pain

She started to hear sirens and two fire truck and two ambulances pulled up. A fireman helped Josh out of the car and onto a stretcher while two others and an EMT worked on getting her off the hood and back into the car.

Cheyenne watched as Josh cried and refused to be checked out by an EMT. He was hysterical and started hyperventilating. An oxygen mask was placed over his face and a needle was jammed into his arm. Josh started to breath normally and his eyes looked glazed over.

The firemen finally got her out of the car and the EMT was waiting to load her on on the stretcher. An oxygen mask was placed over her face and she was loaded into the waiting ambulance.
