01 • Butterflies

- Two months ago -

"You may now kiss the bride."

"Hold on!"

Everyone diverted their attention to the wooden door where a young man just barged in and shouted out loud, panting hard due to running out of breath.

The stranger absolutely paid no mind to all the curious eyes on him as he made way towards her who soon to be the other man's wife.

How ironic of this situation.

When their eyes met, he could clearly see his reflection in those teary eyes of her.

She looked ethereal in white wedding dress. That was what he has been imaging long time ago until now.

He just wanted to take in this sight for only himself forever.

What he just thought sparked a shade of determination in his eyes.

"I oppose this marriage," he said in such a cold but calm voice, then grabbed her wrist and paved the way for both of them to head out of this stupid arranged marriage, leaving all the people behind with confusion.

After the two ran away, Hongjoong drove them off to the place who knows where.

"...What are you up to?" The bride asked with shaky voice between her sobs, feeling somehow relived after the escape.

"I rescued you Hyemi! You don't have to marry some stranger just because you wanna pay back to your parents. It's your own life!"

"..." She couldn't talk back because deep down her heart she knew what he said was nothing but truth.

Silence was all over the place.

The pair was stepping along the coast after his white car was parked at parking lot near the beach where they decided to stop by.

Hongjoong halted his track which made Hyemi stop as well. He turned to face her, asking seriously.

"Don't you want me to do this?"

She didn't respond, looking at him whilts shaking her head continuously.

"Come to my house and live with me, Jang Hyemi," pressing his lips together, he said casually (or he tried to at least). His tone got soften to her ears.

The red haired man's sudden offer truly caught her off guard.

"B-but... "

"As friends. As house mates of course HAHAHA." Hongjoong bursted into an awkward laughter as he saw Hyemi's cheeks turned into red tomatoes, stuttering.

Actually, they both acknowledged she would have no place to stay after messing up the wedding. Her parents probably got mad at her.

No. Her parents definitely got mad.

Should I move in with him?

The young woman in wedding dress whose mind was wandering with thoughts.

She then looked back at her male friend who was still staring at her hopefully.

In Hyemi's eyes his fit was simple but really standed out under the sun ray : his wavy red hair, light green shirt with two loosing upper buttons tucked into a pair of ripped black jeans which hugging his thighs so perfectly.

He must be a thief who has stolen many women hearts.

"So?" Hongjoong voice snapped her mind back to reality. The man tilted his head to the right side. His eyes were still searching for an answer in hers.

Because he never knew how her answer would make him feel happy to the moon and back.

"Yes. I'll be in your care Joong."

A genuine smile plastered on his face which strangely released butterflies in her stomach.

And much to her surprise, she didn't intend to get rid of this whole new feeling at all.

Putting his hand onto her messy silky hair due to the wind, Hongjoong combed it through his fingers, but it's more like he caressed it.

They fixed their eyes on one another, feeling their own hearts rate sped up rapidly all of a sudden.

It was just the beginning. Are their feelings blooming the same way towards each other?

Since his heart belongs to her right from the start.
