teagan spent the next few days avoiding lorelai. she knew what she said was wrong and she shouldn't have brought up christopher or her situation.
but it was the heat of the moment and teagan thought she had no right to make jess seem like the bad guy.
she didn't really know why she was so adamant to defend jess, she did consider him the bad guy when he first arrived.
something had just changed in her opinion towards him that no one else seemed to see or bothered to try to see.
she had also spent as much time trying to get out of work since it was a mess.
there were builders everywhere since luke had gone, as jess put it, american psycho, on the wall instead of finding a new place to live.
but instead of work, her foster mom had dragged her there for food before she had school, since 'they didn't spend enough time together'. which, was all her fault since she was always too 'busy' to talk to the girl.
"teagan, you sit. i'll go order." anna told her with a smile and walked towards the counter.
"nope, you can't sit here!" luke yelled as he ran over.
"too late, i'm already sat." teagan smiled to him.
"three people got nailed in the head here earlier." he told her.
"i'll risk it." she shrugged.
"will you just move?" he bargained.
"no, i like it here." teagan complained as luke gave up and walked away.
jess spotted the brunette sitting in the danger zone and decided to rescue her.
with an umbrella.
he walked over and popped it open while handing it to her.
"oh, you are really funny." luke commented from behind them.
jess then sent her a small smirk and walked away.
"you and tom should put an act together." he continued. "i'd leave it open." he told his waitress when jess was out of ear shot.
as he said that, debris fell from the floor above and the umbrella did protect the girl underneath.
"thanks, Danes!" teagan called to the boy as he walked past her again.
at that moment the door chimes and the gilmore girls walk in.
teagan immediately averted her gaze, trying to act like she hadn't seen them instead of making awkward eye contact.
"my mom wants to know if you'll stay with me while she's gone this weekend." rory tells her, walking over to teagans table.
"uhhhh." teagan looked up to meet rory's gaze, unsure of how to reply.
"she trusts you, and apparently i can't stay by myself to do my laundry and she can't talk to you." she rolled her eyes at how immature the two were acting.
"oh, okay." she only agreed because she felt slightly better after hearing lorelai trusted her, she knew this already, but the information being reinforced boosted the girls confidence.
"okay, also i don't agree with you two arguing." rory called back as she walked back to her table.
"yep. got that." teagan sent her a sarcastic smile, this was the third time in the past few days rory had reminded her she didn't want them arguing. "for the fifth time."
~
teagan knocked on the door of the gilmore residence, dreading the next few hours of awkward small talk that she was about to experience.
