Introduction

(That up there in the media is Nicole)

Nicole's POV

I'm so excited that my face is permanently frozen in a smile. The first day of first grade. How could anyone contain such excitement? I rush downstairs to find a bowl of cereal, my backpack and school supplies, and my lunch all neat and tidey. I sit down at the table and start on my cereal. My mother walks in and kisses the top of my head.

"Nicky the bus is here! You don't want to be late!" I nod in response and finish my breakfast. I grab my pack and rush it the door. I hop on the bus and sit next to Bella. My bestest friend in the whole wide world. We've known each other since we were babies. The bus pulls up to the school and we're greeted by our new teacher, Ms. Locklear. As we get off the bus, she tells us how we will get to lunch and recess. I notice two boys standing off to the sides. One very tall boy and one shorter boy with a wide smile on his little face. I look around to my other peers but no one sticks out except those two. Bella taps me on the arm telling me that it's time to go. When we enter the classroom, there are shiny desks and a bright white board. We go to our assigned seats and unpack our supplies. I got the seat next to the smiley kid.

" Hello! I'm Nicky! What's your name?" I ask eagerly.

"Uh um I'm Charles Lincoln but you can call me Link." He said shyly. We sit down and listen to the teacher. She instructs us to get out crayons and markers because we were going to be coloring mythical beasts. About fifteen minutes in, I notice Link is writing on the desks. And what he is writing is not nice. I reach over and tap his shoulder.

"PST. Hey should you be doing that?" I ask.

"Probably not" he says sarcastically. Ms Locklear walks over and tells me and Link to stay after class. She then walks over to Bella's desk and treks her to stay too. Same for the tall boy. After class we start on our desks and wait for our scolding. She tells us how we shouldn't interrupt her class again or else no recess. We all apologize. After our little berating, Link and tall boy approach me and Bella.

"Hi I'm Rhett what are your guyses names?" The tall boy asks. We each give our names and Link asks if we'd like to hang out now. We all agree.
