Eda was siting at the marble fountain in her Babaanne's botanic garden. Although the garden was wide spread, the flowers were fractionated in the ground and the same glossy white marble from inside; paving a path for the wanderer. The huge garden had a silent, shaded centre where the glistering fountain stood, making each drop of the water falling from it, shine bright like a diamond.
The beauty of the enchanting garden was enough to get any soul under it's spell. Eda was lost it's beauty, wondering how on this green earth could such a spellbinding garden exist in Mardin? The land almost barren and burnt from the mighty sun that even shone brightly on a winter day.
She saw Efe approaching her. He was dressed in a plain white T shirt with a pair of blue jeans, he had his sunglasses on. When he was close enough, Eda stood up, perping all the words she was going to throw at him.
"Selam." He broke the awkward silence.
"Selam ya" Eda tilted her head slightly with an unreadable expression on her face.
"I think we should break the ice between us, Eda." Efe was headed straight to his target.
Her motioned her to take a seat at the edge of the fountain.
" Seni dinliyorum Efe. Let's see how you reason out your betrayal." Eda spoke with utter spleen.
" Eda, emin ol ki I didn't know about your relationship with Semiha Hanım until the day I left İstanbul. I was just given a task by the women who brought me up and is the reason why I'm who I am today."
Eda stared at him disbelievingly."Semiha Hanım just asked me to somehow get a proof that Alptekin Bolat was the reason of her son's death. That's all. I was given no other piece of information." Efe continued.
" Yani you weren't aware that the lady you're working for is my Grandmother?" Eda asked disbelievingly.
Efe let out a plain "Hayir""Git ya! Allah aşkına! All extra support and help you showered me with? What was that for!?" Eda enquired baffled and furiously.
"That was all genuinely from me to a young and talented landscape architect. That's it!" He explained."Hayata inanmam! For sure Semiha Hanım might have told you to be careful about me or to help me." Eda spoke out with a shrug.
"Hayir Eda! Believe me I did not know anything about you until I left İstanbul. You can go ask you grandmother too." He insisted.Eda kept a steady gaze at him, as if deciphering if he was lying or not.
"Tamam. Ama yine de whatever you did was wrong" She finally said with tiny bit of smile on her face.
"If you're talking about the roof thing; Yes I was mistaken and I guess you're aware of the fact that I've paid the price for it too." He raised his eyebrows along with his pressed lips."I know"
"Besides that I don't think I did anything wrong except accomplishing the job I was assigned."
Eda looked around for a while before speaking.
"Actually you're right. What else did you do other than obliging to my Grandmother. If I count that roof mesele as a mistake.""So are we good now?" Efe asked with his eye lined with hope.
"Yani, if you consider me more of friend and less of your Boss's granddaughter?"
He let out a laugh. "Tabi""So how do you find it here? I think it's your first time in Mardin?" He continues to converse.
"Iyi. Except that it's pretty warm even at this time of the year. Haven't been here ever before.""Since uh.. Since when have you..like have you been brought up here?" There was hesitation in her voice.
"Yeah, I've been here all my life. Don't remember anything else than being brought up in this house." He answered casually."This garden left me speechless though. How on Earth is such a beautiful thing possible in this temperature. And whoever designed it did an incredibly great job! I'm so overwhelmed!" She shifted the topic to lift up the weight.
Efe let out a chuckle.
"Well, Thank you for the compliment." He was grinning.
