Ithilwen sat atop a horse, one of which the lakemen provided her. Looking down she nodded her head towards Dis. "Thank you and," the elven princess blinked in curiosity as the dwarf held up her hand, stopping the princess from speaking. "You've no need to apologize." shaking her head she gazed at the princess. "As far as I'm concerned you've kept your promise. "
Ithilwen blinked, her eyes watching as Dis held her injured hand. "You've taken many wounds for my boy." she whispered gently caressing the wound. Hearing this, tears pricked at the elliths eyes. She was about to dismount but the dwarven princess let go of her hand. "Go home Princess, go home to your father. To your family. "
A moment of silence hung comfortably between the two women. Gazing at Dis for a few moments her gaze shifted up to the Lonely Mountain. Following her gaze the dwarven princess glanced at the mountain. Shifting her gaze back, Dis observed the elleth and how her longing gaze was in the past. "If you'd like, you can say goodbye to them. One last time."
Still gazing at the mountain, Ithilwen shook her head rejecting the offer. Guiding the horse to face the front the elven princess urged the horse forward. Dis's gaze followed the princess watching as her silhouette disappeared behind the rising dawn. Bowing her head she clasped her hands together. I pray to Durin that her light remains on Middle Earth.
Ithilwen traveled with little to no breaks. Though her saddened hues gazed at the sky, "Far over~," her voice carried by the wind. "the misty mountain co~ld. To dungeons deep and caverns old. We must away~" at this Ithilwens eyes closed as she began to sing the Lonely Mountain, the song that started it all.

I must admit when I first heard Thorin sing I was shocked. Though to be fair, I have only heard of what the other elves and my father have told me. No surprise that what they said was wrong Thorin' voice was deep yet soothing to my ears not grating or boring like so many balls I've attended. I couldn't help it.
Flashback
"The world is grey, the mountains old" at that verse I couldn't help but intertwine my voice. Thorin glanced at my way but I followed the melody with my voice under his. "The forge' fire is ashen cold. No harp is wrung, no hammer falls. The darkness dwells in Durin' halls."
Just before he could finish the next verse Kili walked in. We turned to look at him, Fili stood beside him both shocked at what they heard. "Wow Erayas, I don think we've heard you sing, right Fili." Kili teased nudging his brother. Clearing his throat Fili covered his mouth. "Yes I thought it was a bird singing with Uncle."
Embarrassed I turned away, "Aww Erayas are you blushing." Kili' teasing starting again. Frowning I was about to huff when a thought came to mind. Before either could react I swept their feet out from under them.
Both shouted in shock, "Erayas not fair!" the dark haired dwarf yelled. Placing my hand on my hood I tilted my head back and laughed. Turning back around I looked down at the two a smile still on my face. The blond haired dwarf chuckled back at me. Kneeling down I helped him up. A bright smile on his face.
Present
Now that I think back on it, Fili never smiled that brightly to anyone but me. What should have brought me happiness now only brought sorrow. Opening my eyes I watched as the sun set behind the horizon. When the moon rose I set up camp only for the sake of giving my steed a rest. Another memory surfaced,

The company had stopped in an alcove hidden behind rocks. Ithilwen had laid down , her hood still covering her face, she was asleep yet she twitched in slight discomfort. Opening her blue eyes she looked down to her legs. Fili was resting beside her his head laying on her lap. Moving her head to look at her shoulder she saw that Kili had laid his head on her forearm. Smiling she nudged her head against his, turning her gaze back to his brother she rubbed her hand against his head.
When I had a nightmare or couldn't sleep, Legolas - tor would let me sleep next him. And when I was younger and I had nightmares I'd run to Adar. Even when he was busy he'd let me sleep on his lap. I still remember his robes how soft they felt when my hand ran over them. It was comforting.
Unconsciously Ithilwen began rubbing her hand in Fili' hair.

Ithilwen continued towards Mirkwood. She felt numb the memories of her friends and the promise she made with Thorin replaying in her head. Removing her eyes from her steed she looked ahead the Elven gate just a few feet in front of her. The trees groaned and creaked in celebration at the princess willing return to her home. Going deeper into her home the Mirkwood princess began to sing another song.
" I saw the light fade from the sky. On the wind I heard a sigh." The leaves shimmered in their autumn hues delighted at her voice. "As the snowflakes cover, my fallen brothers. I will say this last goodbye." her voice choking on the last verse, her eyes closing in mourning. "Night is now falling so ends this day. The road is now calling, and I must away." Closing her eyes she trusted that the forest would guide the horse to her destination. "Over hill and under tree. Through lands where-never light has shone. By silver streams that run down to the sea. Under cloud beneath the stars. Over snow one winters morn." the memories of the recent battle resurfacing and hitting her as if she was hit with a troll hammer.
Her grip on the reigns tightened, nails digging into her wounded hand. Opening her eyes she watched as the gates of her home came into view, "I turn at last to paths that lead home~. And though where the road then takes me. I can not tell."
Miraculously no great parade or march was there, also miraculously no guards stood outside the gates. Suddenly the doors sprang open. Thranduil stood is hands pushing against the doors. The elven king was dressed in red and dark blue robe. Inside the hall his advisor stood behind him, his clothes askew since the king had suddenly ran to the front gate.
We came all this way and now comes the day. To bid you farewell.
Ithilwen smiled as she watched Thranduil rush towards her. His mouth moving yet she could not hear.
"Ada I'm home."
