"I know you'll be upset at the choice I made but I couldn't let you leave me, I couldn't live knowing a life would have been lost, I couldn't live knowing a man who saved me died because I didn't save him."
As a person with Intraocular Melanoma, you have learned to see the world through sound. Having being born with something that can never go away is something you learned to deal with. Having gone to many hospitals to look for cures to this cancer, you have found nothing. You manage to live without anyone's help but recently things have gotten tough and you can't do normal things anymore. The cancer has spread to your brain and affecting everyday activities such as walking, talking, and most times even eating. Emitting yourself to the hospital was the only thing you could do since you had no one who cared enough to help you at least that's what you thought
It's been a few days since you reached out for help. You hear voices but see no one and often you get this cranky nurse who you feel could care less about you that is until today. You lay in bed, silently reading a book made especially for people who can't see. You heard a knock at the door then hear the same nurse before, she explained that you had to move to another room shared with another person. You were okay with this considering you tried to make new friends. You manage to get up and stand on your own. You gather your things and walk with the nurse into a new room and sit on the bed. You realize how much harder it was to walk now.
You set your stuff down and hear the door shut. You go to grab your book but a voice makes to stop dead in your tracks. You furrow your eyebrows and look around for a moment.
"Sorry if you didn't want to be bothered but I enjoy meeting new people. My name is Ji-Woon Hak but everyone calls me Ji. I'm glad that I get to speak to another person. They kept me in this room with no one for the longest time"
You smile a bit when he says this and look where the voice came from.
"This is the special care unit for people with cancer, what do you have?"
You listen as he pulls up a chair and sits next to you. You look over to where he's sitting.
"I have Leukemia. It's cancer in the blood marrow if you didn't know. I'm supposed to be getting a transplant soon. It's hard to exactly explain what it does but it feels like I have the flu at all times without actually having it. Also, don't worry, you can't get it from me.
You hear him chuckle and it feels like a boost of energy. You smile and nod. Somehow you feel like being here isn't the end of the world. You might actually enjoy it here.

Its been a pleasant few weeks having Ji thee to keep you company. You can't stop yourself from smiling when he's around, he's the best person to ever come into your life. He's currently not in the room, he explained he needed some more testing done. You quietly read than hear a knock at the door before whoever it comes in and closes the door then walks over to you. You put the bookmark in your book then look to where the sound came from. You wait for them to speak.
"Your test results came back and..I'm sorry but your dying"
You can tell he is waiting for some sort of reaction but you don't give him one. You simply listen to what he has to say.
"The cancer has spread to your brain. There were treatments to prevent that but you had come in too late for anything to be done, I'm sorry The tests say you have little less than a few weeks.."
