I woke up in a hammock. I attempted to use my free hand to find what was restricting my other hand to the top of the hammock. A person put my glasses on. An unfamiliar face soon moved back. He had hazel eyes, which matched his brown hair.
"Hi," I said.
"Sup." He said.
"Where am I?"
"I ask the questions here."
"Go for it."
"Who are you?"
"Jerrica Halloway."
"Your grandfather will see you soon."
"Fuck!"
He started to leave when he stopped in his tracks.
"I'm just messing with you, Jerrica."
He grabbed a key from his pocket and unlocked the handcuffs.
"Explain now."
"Ezra was the leader of our group before he left after being drawn to you."
"Is he here?"
"We found him last night when we found you."
I ran past him and saw someone on the deck.
"Ezra?" I asked with tears filling my eyes.
He soon turned and wrapped his arms around me.
"Hi, beautiful." He said.
"I thought I lost you!" I cried.
"You would never lose me."
"Where are we?"
"Welcome to Inedale!"
I wrapped my hands around him and held him for as long as I could. He picked me up, and we went back into the room as I was in. He put me on the hammock. He got into the hammock with me. He wrapped my arms around me. He pulled me closer.
"I love you!" Ezra said.
"I love you too," I responded.
We fell asleep as we held each other. I woke up to Ezra not being there. I went to the room next to mine. I was being drowned in the smell of breakfast food. I opened the door to see a kitchen filled with a girl who had teal hair—also the guy from the day before. Then there was Ezra, who was cooking breakfast for the group.
"Morning!" I said, sitting at the table.
"Morning, Jerrica!" The guy said. "I am Drew, by the way."
"Hi," I said.
"I'm Sarah." The girl piped in.
"Hi, thanks for allowing me to stay," I said.
"You are family."
Ezra turned around.
"Hi, I'm Ezra Reynolds." He said, shaking my hands.
"Interesting, I'm Jerrica Reynolds," I answered.
"I think we are married." He said sarcastically.
"Yeah, I think we are."
He moved closer to me and kissed me.
"You guys are so cute it's gross," Sarah responded.
We heard the door open. I began to panic. Ezra put his arms around me.
"It's okay; we are safe." He said.
He turned me around.
"See, they aren't going to hurt you."
He put his arms around my waist. Two girls and a guy walk in. The girls were holding hands.
"That's Daisy and Rose and Nathan," Ezra explained.
"Hi," I said softly.
Ezra grabbed my hand and led me to the kitchen as he continued to make food. I sat next to him on the counter. Nathan moved closer to Sarah and put his arms around her.
"So, are you guys children of the council?" I asked.
"No, we are all children of Nobel's," Drew explained.
"Okay, cool."
"So Jerrica, are you the one?" Sarah asked.
"Ya, I guess."
"What do you mean, I guess?"
"I have a twin brother, and we both share the title. I also don't like the high importance title."
"Oh."
"Yeah!"
Another nerdier kid runs into the room.
"Code 103A!" He explained.
"Fuck!" Ezra exclaimed.
"What?" I grabbed his hand.
"We are the only ones who aren't sick."
"Fuck!"
"Also, there's a breach south from here."
We all went toward the breach. A familiar figure showed.
"Ezra?" I questioned.
"Yeah, babe, I see him too." He said.
Peter placed his hands on the ground throwing everyone. My back slammed against the tree.
"The battle is over; you lost, give up." Peter's voice was in my head.
"Never." I thought as I slammed my hands into the ground.
This only slightly hit him.
"You can't run. I know where you are at all times."
"I'm never going to give up." I blasted flames at him.
"You're going to blow up and hurt everyone."
"Nice try."
I blasted him with flames once again, and then he disappeared. I fell to my knees. Blood began to leak out of my ears.
"Jerrica!" Ezra said, running to me.
"We need to defeat that asshole," I said once he got to me.
He laughed and hugged me.
