Sadie's breath seemed to go unsteady; it was quick and airy as she trod the stairs to the highest floor in the building. Her whole body almost ached in excitement, anticipation continually rising as she thought about the fine, Ardonian lad waiting for her by the hotel balcony.
And when after what seemed to be such a long time, finally, her shaking hands pushed open the wooden door that leads to the open rooftop.
The cool breeze of the Rutherlandian evening greeted Sadie Montreale with a not-so-warm welcome, and instead, a chilly one that made her wrap her arms to herself. Running her palms up and down repeatedly on her limbs, she tries to walk through the cold night, shivering as she roamed around the place for one Ardonian lad.
She scanned the balcony, a perimeter so colossal, and it took her some time, searching for a particular boy that screamed the identity of an Ardonian native's son. And after quite a few walks around the place, a few minutes before Montreale decides to give up looking for him, Sadie's attention is captured by a very familiar sight coming from the railing.
And there he was—one dashing, Ardonian lad in the name of Blaine Hayes, arms crossed, wearing a smirk as his hips rested against the balcony fence. Somehow, Sadie wanted to thank the cool winds, for they beautifully blew against Blaine's tousled hair, making him even more handsome—making Sadie even more anticipated in running her hands on his brown locks, pulling hard as they kissed...
The only thing that whirled in her mind that very moment was how stunning Blaine had looked tonight, brushing away the thought that she had cleaned up well for him—because, in the Ardonian lad's mind, he thought the same.
If Sadie was too busy eyeing the handsome boy, Blaine himself was too captivated by Sadie Montreale's sight before him, even when she was standing a few meters away.
In front of Blaine Hayes stood mesmerizing, the First Daughter of Rutherland, in a cerulean dress so scandalous with a dangerously low neckline and a slit that reached her thigh. Her skin almost seemed like porcelain's glittered in the night, and as she walked closer, she did the First Son of Ardona a favor, providing Blaine enough time to marvel Sadie, drinking her in every time she moved.
And when they were only a few inches apart, the two couldn't help but plaster a smile across their faces—for it was only Blaine she ever wanted to see, and it was only Sadie he had wished to be with tonight.
It was Blaine Hayes all along, from the beginning; the reason why Sadie Montreale never once regretted being involved with the dangers of politics and diplomacy. That day when she kissed Blaine for the first time around on the balcony of Vancross, she knew then and there the consequences of their kindled flame—and they never doubted it, not even once.
When Sadie had to lie low and pretend to be dating Vujoka's next leader, Alexei, she thought her affair with Blaine would finally come to a halt. For the betterment of Rutherland and Ardona, to be precise, she was willing to end things with Blaine—yet all the stolen touches, all the longing glances, and the occasional forbidden kisses made her stomach turn into knots, and not even the most advanced diplomacy books could explain it.
At last, Blaine manages to clear his throat and catch Sadie's attention. "...Rutherland."
"Ardona," she steps closer to him. "You clean up good, there is no doubt."
