The next day Teagan washed her face and brushed her teeth after getting out of the shower. Spider was able to get them a room in a motel near the location of the funeral. She was still undecided if she wanted to attend or not. All night she tossed and turned after everything that had gone down since coming back into The Firm. Turning the faucet off she unwrapped her hair and brushed it into a high ponytail away from her face. Picking up her vibrating phone she noticed an unknown message.
Unknown: Nice seeing you Agent Red
Teagan: Who is this?
Unknown: No more games
Teagan: What do you want?
Unknown: You have a nice family, too bad they won't get to live past today.
Teagan's eyes rose in shock. She ran out of the bathroom running to the couch to wake up Spider.
"Spider, they have my family!" Teagan screamed, grabbing her shoes, gun, and badge. Stopping at the couch, she showed him the text messages on her phone.
"What are you talking about, Teagan? They are in protective custody." Spider sat up yawning and stretching his arms.
A second later a photo popped up on her phone showing her kids and husband tied up and blindfolded.
"Fuck! I have to go," Teagan shouted, power walking toward the door not waiting for backup as Spider jumped up grabbing her arm. She yanked out of his hold tossing him on the ground.
"It's me, Teagan! Me, Spider, your friend. I'm with you on this."
"Get dressed, we need to give them whatever they want."
Unknown: Come alone
"What do they want?" Spider asked.
"Me."
"It's a trap, and you can't go out there alone. We need to think and figure out a better plan."
Teagan pointed her finger in his face.
"We don't have time for planning some damn rescue mission, Spider. They will kill my family if I don't go now. Don't you see this was all about me, not some fucking peace treaty bullshit?"
"Teagan, once you step in front of Broderick, you're dead. You're no help for your family if you go alone. I have a few people I trust I can call to give us some backup," Spider said, grabbing his cell phone and stalking to the bathroom to get changed.
Not listening to Spider, Teagan waited for him to walk off, grabbed the keys off the table, and ran out of the hotel room to save her family.
As she drove through the streets, her phone continued to blow up from Spider, and Stanton was calling back too. She continued following the directions of the text message of where her family was being held. Zigzagging in and out of traffic, when she stopped at a light, she noticed a black Lincoln behind her that had two men in suits wearing glasses and license plates labeled US GOV. Guessing she was being watched to make certain she came alone, Teagan pulled out into traffic before the light turned green and caused cars to swerve and block the car in that was following. Then she finally answered the phone.
"Spider, trace my phone and this address!" Teagan rushed out.
"Teagan, don't be stupid, wait for backup, God damnit."
"They have a tail on me, listen, I'm forwarding the address to you now. If I don't make it, Spider, make sure to take Stanton and everyone involved down," Teagan rambled out as she disconnected the call and then put her phone on silent. She finally arrived a few houses down from the address she was texted and realized she was in New Jersey. She turned the ignition off, pocketed the key, then checked her nine-millimeter Glock. Blowing out a breath and closing her eyes, she tried to think of a plan of how to get inside without causing any harm to her husband and three kids. A knock on her window startled her, and she aimed her gun at the culprit. A young kid on a bike raised his palms up in fear. Teagan glanced around the area and back to the young teen, looking no more than fifteen years old. She gestured for him to step back so she could get out of the car.
