"Jes, look!" Pez shouts across the room. We're alone, as Jade is currently in the studio booth recording her part for one of our next songs and Leigh – I actually don't know where Leigh-Anne is, but she isn't here at the moment.
"Huh?" When I look up from my phone, I see Perrie walking towards me with a wide grin.
Without further explanation, she takes my hand and drags me across the room to the floor-to-ceiling windows. I look down at the wonderful view of London we have from up here.
"And? Why did you make me leave the couch?" I ask her, kind of confused as to why we had to go to the window.
"Jes! Don't you see it?" she says, her eyes never leaving the window. It's just then that I notice how giddy Perrie is, and how she is bouncing on her feet.
I can't help but chuckle at her child-like happy behaviour and ask, "What?"
She finally turns to me, her eyes shining bright. Her smile is so big it's contagious, even though I still don't know what caused it.
"It's snowing! Snowing! It's the first snow this winter!" she tells me, her arms wiggling in excitement. That's when I notice it for the first time, the thin white layer on each and every surface outside, created by little snowflakes that are slowly falling out of the clouds.
I don't really know how to react. I'm not even half as excited about the snow as Perrie. All I can think about is the traffic I'll be stuck in on the way home, 'cos when there's snow on the roads, people suddenly seem to be unable to drive properly. But I don't want to cloud Perrie's joy, so I play along, "Wow! Snow! That's so exciting!"
She looks at me with a sceptical look on her face. Oh, I laid it on a bit thick, didn't I? I shoot her a nose-scrunching smile and hope she buys my fake excitement. Apparently she does, as she scrunches her nose back at me.
For a moment, we both look out the window, admiring the white landscape beneath us. Pez is still extremely fidgety, seemingly unable to stand still even for a second.
Suddenly, she turns to me.
"How long is our break? I mean, when do we have to go into the booth?" she asks me, speaking quickly in her hyped state.
"Umm, I don't know exactly. I think we have at least half an hour, though," I answer, trying to remember what exactly we were told this morning.
"Yay!" she squeals, and immediately takes my hand to pull me away from the window.
I follow Pez, never letting go of her hand, until we reach the elevator. I get an idea of what Pez is planning and I cautiously ask, "Babe, where are we going?"
"Outside! I wanna see the snow," she tells me happily while she presses the lift button. Even though I try to suppress it, I have to laugh. Perrie looks at me with a pout , so I'm quick to reassure her.
"Pezza, I'm not laughing at you, but don't you think we might need our coats? It's freezing outside."
She laughs back at me and just says oops, so I lead her back to the room where our bags are. I hand Pez her light-coloured furry coat. Then I also make sure to give her the scarf, headband, and gloves that lay next to it on the couch, cos I've got the feeling we'll be outside for a long time.
While Perrie puts on her stuff, I search for a beanie and a pair of gloves in my bag. After a few seconds, I find them in the mess that is my big Louis Vuitton bag. I put my beanie on and stuff the gloves in the big pockets of my short black quilted jacket. When I look up at Pez, I see that she's already smiling at me. She looks really cute in her wintry outfit, her blonde hair peeking out of her baby pink headband.
