Zadie rolled her eyes as she slammed her locker shut on Stella's fingers causing Stella's nail to break. She smiled and laughed and headed to her first and worst class, math. She dropped her books on her desk making a loud sound, which startled everyone around her. She smirked as she took her seat. As the class got started, Zadie sat in the back of the class with her friends, and they talked on and on. They started discussing cheerleadin. An hour later, as she went to exit and go to her next class she ran into someone.
Alexander stumbles as Zadie runs into him. He nervously smiled and quickly picked up his things and headed to the science. He hurried to get to his seat, as it was next to 3 of his buddies. They talked throughout the class, on and off about football and girls. As class finally finished he grabbed his bag and headed to his lunch. He went to his locker to grab his lunch box. He then finally headed down to lunch and sat with eight of his friends all sitting down around a circular table.
As Jason stepped into the cafeteria, the first thing he noticed was Alexander and his friends. He watched as they laughed and talked to each other like they had known each other for their whole lives, even though Alex has only been going to this school for a couple of months.
As he only had 3 friends of his own, it was hard to imagine having a whole group of people willing to spend time with you. He got his tray of food and was walking over to his usual table in the back of the room when he noticed Stella sitting alone. He thought for a few seconds, before deciding to invite her over to his table. He went over to her and politely asked, "Would you like to sit with us?".
Stella's eyes widened. She argued with herself before concluding that it wouldn't hurt to make a friend. "I guess.." she responded quietly. Stella picked up her bag and tray and followed Jason to his table and sat down next to him.
Jason greeted his friends with a small smile. While his friends talked amongst each other, Jason and Stella sat in awkward silence.
"H-hey... how are you?" Jason stuttered, trying to break the ice.
"I guess I'm good. Thanks for inviting me," Stella responded as she ate a bite of the nasty cafeteria food.
"No problem..." He said. For the rest of their lunch hour, the two sat in normal silence, eating their lunch. Then as the bell rang they all got up and went to their separate classes.
"Almost over. only one more hour after this" Alex thought to himself, as he picked up his books and homework to go to his last class. This day has been rough enough as it is and he could just tell that it was about to get worse.
When he walked into social studies, he saw the bowl of paper sitting on his teachers desk and already knew what was gonna happen. It has finally arrived, the group project. He sat down as his seat was next to Stella, he waved at her and smiled, and waited for the teacher to start speaking.
"Alright," Mr. George said, taking a seat behind his desk. "You all know what time it is. Group project time!" He said listening to his students groan. "Your assignment for this weekend is to work with your group to write an essay on the Oneiro culture and some of the legends that come with it." He pulled the bowl to sit in front of him and started pulling names.Alexander sat quietly and listened as Mr. George called out the first few groups, none of which included him. The longer Alex sat without hearing his name, the more his nerves grew. Finally it was down to the last eight people to get picked. He first heard Stella... then Zaddie... next Jason... Then lastly Alexander. He got more nervous than he already was knowing that this group isn't gonna get along very well.
For the remainder of class, they sat in a circle in silence, dreading the start of the weekend for the first time that they could remember.
At the end of class, they all got together in the hallway and started discussing how they were gonna do it as they only had three days to finish it.
"I have detention till 3," Zadie included as she didnt wanna be much help
"We can get the books and take some notes in the library until you get out. Then we can drive over to someone's house and start working on it?" Alex responded. He wanted to get it done quickly and easily.
"I guess we can take my car after and work at my house," Zadie said hesitantly.
"Alright! Settled. Zadie will meet us in the library after detention and we will all go and take our books and start the project at Zadie's house," Jason quickly responded.
They all did as told. Stella, Jason, and Alex got books and wrote down and placed bookmarks so they knew what to study from and where. By the time Zadie met them at the library, it was starting to get dark out, and snow had started falling heavily.
They all picked up their books and headed to Zadie's car, Zadie in the driver's seat and Jason in the passenger while Stella and Alexander sat in the back. As Zadie was driving down the road, the snow became even heavier. Zadie and Jason were arguing, but they normally did so Stella and Alex left them to be, till they noticed a pair of headlights coming at them. In a panic, Zadie swerved out of the way. The group screamed as the car swerved out of control, and it kept going forward until it hit something then the screaming stopped, and everything went black.
