After two weeks of having my sweet pug at home, things went horribly wrong on an ordinary Sunday night. The cause was unknown, but I ran into the kitchen to hear a horrible screeching noise. I will never forget that scream for help.

I knew something wasn't right. She refused to walk. I thought her leg was dislocated. My dad tried to help her. I didn't really understand what was happening. My mind was racing with emotions thinking what if ...what if... what if....

I broke down into tears knowing something was wrong. I went into my room and said "WHY COULDN'T IT HAVE BEEN ME?!" I would have rather gone through her pain.

I stayed up late to comfort her. We put her in a basket with my dad and had food and water. She refused to eat or drink and everytime I would touch her near her leg, she would scream. I couldn't sleep knowing that Oreo was in pain. The thought continued to haunt me as I tried to sleep. I never slept that night.

I didn't want to go to school the next morning. I wanted to be with Oreo while she was at the vet, but I had to go to school. The entire day I worried about my pug. What if she needed an amputation?  What if she could never walk again? What if...? What if...?

All the while I was at school, Oreo was put under to get rays and many other tests. The tests showed that Oreo had a broken leg. You could tell by her face that she was in pain. She had a cast on her leg. I wrote on it saying that I love her.

I knew she was brave. I know that I had to be brave too. I gave her water through a syringe and feed her special food to make her feel better. I gave her medicine three times a day. Since she refused to eat the pill whole, I had to crush it up and cover it in peanut butter to make it taste good.

Every night, I would carry her in and out of bed and put her in a basket. I had to make sure I was careful with her leg so that I didn't hurt her. She was still loving. She never acted different.

After about four weeks, she started to jump out of the basket and run away with her cast on. She always was active and energized.  She was eager to get out of the basket and play with the other dogs. She was almost acting like a normal little pug again. Just with a cast.

She loved to dress up and play around. Her favorite thing to do was to chew on bones! If she didn't have a bone with her, you would hear her bark for some! She also loved to sleep and get fed a bunch of treats. I feel like I spoiled her. The weeks continued to pass by. She had to have her cast on for six weeks.

Finally, that day came. It was time for Oreo's cast to come off for good.(Please read part three for more). Thank you!!
