The restaurant was amazing, fancier than anything I'd ever seen outside of a movie. By the time we finished eating I was so pleasantly full that I wanted nothing more than to lay down and take a nap.

But of course that wasn't completely true, there was one thing that had been in the back of my mind through the entire meal. Yesterday Yelena had promised to finish what we'd started, and as the waiter comes to pick up the bill my anxiety over the situation begins to peak.

I haven't slept with anyone other than Jean in quite some time, much less a woman. I was completely unprepared for tonight.

When we stand to leave Yelena holds onto my hand reassuringly, picking up on the change in my energy. She leads me outside to her car, holding the door open for me yet again.

She starts the car when she gets in , but does not make any move to back out of her parking spot. Instead she takes one of my hands in her own, looking at me with a concerned expression.

"Are you okay?" she asks, giving my hand a gentle squeeze.

"Yeah," I respond unconvincingly. She narrows her eyes at me and I sigh and look away, embarrassed. "It's just, I know what probably comes next and I've not done something like this in so long and what if I make a fool out of myself and-"

"Stop," she interrupts, her tone gentle. "We don't have to do anything you aren't comfortable doing. I can take you home right now and it'll be fine. I asked you out because I wanted to get to know you better, not because I wanted to have sex with you." Her thumb softly traces back and forth over the top of my hand and I feel myself relax slightly.

"I want to," I say after a moment. "I just don't want to embarrass myself." Yelena's thumb stops its movement as she holds my gaze.

"You couldn't do anything to make me view you differently," she says, voice low. I inhale deeply, holding the breath for a moment before nodding my head.

"Okay then, let's go."

Yelena's apartment is just outside of the main campus, and by the looks of the lobby it must be one of the newer ones to have been built. I hold firmly to her hand as we wait for the elevator, taking in the sleek marble floors and furnished seating area.

The elevator dings and we both get on. I watch as she selects the button for the sixth floor. My heart races as we go up and she gives my hand a gentle squeeze, having noticed me get quiet once again.

"Just remember you can change your mind at any point okay?" she says as the elevator drops us off.

"I know," I say with a small smile as she leads me to the end of a long hallway dotted with doors. She stops at the last door, unlocking it and immediately dropping my hand to reach to the floor. All I see is a flash of grey before I hear an angry mewl and she turns with an agitated looking cat in her arms.

"Sorry about that. He thinks himself quite the escape artist," she laughs and my face breaks into a smile. She motions for me to follow her in, which I do.

"Do you want anything to drink?" she asks as she sets the angry ball of fur back down on the floor.

"Some water actually sounds great right now," I say nervously.

"Be right back," she replies with a smile, walking into another room which I assume is a kitchen. While she's gone I take the time to observe the living room I'm standing in.
