Chapter 3

Flashback of 9 years ago

"Nix! Come play with us!" 

"Yeah Nix! It's so sunny outside." My little twin brother and sister begged. 

I chuckled, "Oh all right let's go!" 

I ran after the 2 little fleeting 5 year olds. 

"Come on Nix faster! You'll never be able to catch us at that speed," Kingston yelled and stuck his tongue out. 

"Why you little fart! It's on now!" I yelled and ran after then with all my might. 

I grabbed Chastity from behind, her golden brown pigtails bouncing around, and she laughed crazily. 

"No fair, you have bigger legs!" She yelled at me. 

"Well then how about you help me catch King instead?" 

She giggled and replied, "Sure!" 

I let her go and she went ahead of me deeper into the forest. 

"Wait for me!" I called out and ran after her. 

I ran deeper and deeper into the forest until I started getting more unfamiliar with the surrounding trees. 

"Chast? King?" I yelled out over and over again. I started freaking out and ran all over the place. 

"Chastity?! Kingston!? Where are you guys!? It's not funny anymore!" I called out. 

I ran deeper and deeper in until I felt the small tree branches start to prick my skin. 

"Kingston! Chastity!" I yelled over and over again desperately. 

I moved as fast as I could, left and right, north and south, but they were no where. 

I stopped for a second to catch my breathe and heard branches breaking. I turned around to find the source of the noise.

"Chastity?" I called out curiously, "Kingston?" I walked over and moved the branches out of my way and slowly made my way to the noise.

The small fallen branches crunched under my boots making me known to whoever was there. I finally got to the clearing and walked through. I looked around and in the shadows something moved.

"Hello?" I called out, "my name is Phoenix what's yours?"

The person ran somewhere else and I turned in a circle, "don't be shy! I'm 10 years old and I'm looking for my brother and sister!"

All of a sudden the person moved out of the trees and into the shadows. They then threw something towards me. Curiously I walked towards it and looked at it.

"Ki-Kingston?" I whispered. I looked at the mutilated body lying there. His head was lying there awkwardly and blood was coming out very fast through multiple cuts on his body. My knees buckled underneath me right next to him.

I was breathless, "what happened to him?" I whispered to no one.

The next thought hit me like a truck, "Chastity, Chastity! Where is she!" I yelled to the shadow man.

The next thing broke me down. Her body laid bloodied and broken next to Kingston. Her dull brown eyes mirrored Kingston’s. I couldn't stop the waterworks from coming down.

"What happened?!" I yelled looking at the shadow man with blood all over me. When I didn't get a response I stood up shakily and wiped my face getting blood on my face, "I said What Happened!?" Tears ran down my face and my voice got all high and cracked whenever I yelled at this shadow man.
