Where the ID was,
Their ego shall be - Sigmund FreudYou awaken in a dark hallway, you wore different clothes than what you remember. Why were you here? And where are you, running through your mind? As you begin to walk the hallway, you see a stone face with several cracks.
"I have been waiting for you, my lost child."
Even though, he spoke, his mouth didn't move.
"I am Ego Rex. I administer the rules. What you will find here with me. Is yourself."
'Yourself', you thought, what could that possibly mean. You nod to an agreement as he continues to speak.
"Allow me to teach you the ways of this place."
He vanishes and the hallway was now empty again.
"Shed your daily life. Here you shall contemplate."
You see whispers of what appears to be book quotes. You lightly touch them and somewhat can read whatever book the quote was from.
You heard a voice probably Ego Rex.
"The time is upon you. Go to Es."
When he finished, you saw a small blue glowing butterfly by you. You lightly touch it only to be in what appears to be a library.
In front of you was a woman. A very cute woman at that. She had long black hair braided and swept to her side. She wore what appears to be an 1800s European outfit with white gloves to fit. You couldn't see her lower torso due to the table in the way.
As you approach her, she puts down her book and looks at you calmly, and sighs.
"Well, look who showed up, I grew tired of waiting. Sorry, but I will get right to the point. I have 12 questions for you. Don't think too hard, just answer honestly. "
You look at her confused, questions? Why isn't she worried about where she is at? Or who the stone face figure was. But it finally recalled to you what he said.
She coughs a bit, gathering your attention.
"First question, Do you tend not to get emotional?"
You wanted to question her but decided it's not worth the time and answer the question.
"Second question, Do you put up a front for others?"
You answer again, feeling tense by these questions. They weren't super personal, but you felt like you were being judged. After all, she is pretty attractive.
"Are you easily influenced by others?"
You answer again.
And the questions continued.
"Are your tastes easy to discern?"
"Do you get jealous easily?"
"Do tough situations make you work even harder?"
"Are you often irritated by uncertainty?"
"Are you unhindered by fear?"
"Do you prefer things to be black and white?"
"Are you often deceived?"
"Do you like to be the center of attention?"
"And last question, Do you ignore those you dislike?"
You answer the final time, smiling at her hoping to get a reaction, but to no avail.
Hmm, Interesting... You see everything in absolutes; you and others are either good or bad.
"Do you tend to push your ideas upon others, or become easily disappointed? Don't you find that line of thinking a bit too convenient?"
Apart from you was shocked. How could basic questions like this give an accurate depiction of you?
She looks down at her book and then back at you.
Knowing your own negative side so well makes you particularly harsh towards those with similar flaws to you.
You felt like she was gonna say more, but she seemly holds back. Already seeing it caused some type of damage.
"Well? Did that clear things up? You don't know much at all, do you?"
"Not about this place or about who you are..."
"No matter we have only just begun. You may leave now."
And with that, you woke up.

There's a slight headache when you wake up, so it must have been a dream, right? When you wake up, you look at the clock on your bedside table. By the look of things, it must have been 6 a.m. The weather was also foul, I guess it was one of those days. As you make your coffee, you turn on your TV and play some Lo-fi music. In the midst of brewing your sugary drink, you thought of that dream. And who that lady was.
"Could it have been a dream?" You spoke softly. As you finished your sentence the doorbell rings.
You open the door, to see a package, you take it inside and open it to see several pictures of your parents, and you. You smile softly while placing it near your bed. And with the ding of your coffee, you got up took your drink and sat near your patio on the apartment floor.
The bright neon lights hanging from the skyline added to the pleasant smell of the rain. It was a pretty amazing view. As you take a sip of your drink, you notice a blue butterfly flying towards you landing directly on your hand. You look at it and think back at the moment in that weird dimension.
"I guess it wasn't a dream. Well, I hope to see you again. Whoever you are." You thought to yourself.

ES and her Wanderer.
FanfictionThis is based off of a mobile game called Alter Ego. I highly recommend playing it, as it's a decent game. I will go over the base story and then expand and do my own thing.
