disclaimer this entire fic is a joke i hate when people characterize theta and koschei like this

--------

Koschei was shaky after staring into the Untempered Schism. He could feel that it had messed with his head horribly. There was a faint drumming sound in his head, and he was insane. He silently plotted the murders of the people who had brought him to the Schism.

Suddenly, an angelic-looking blond boy ran directly into him.

"Ow! What was that for?" cried Koschei indignantly.

"I'm sorry. So, so, sorry," said the blond boy, staring up at Koschei with his icy blue eyes like limpid tears. "I didn't mean to hurt you. I don't mean to hurt anyone."

"Well, you just did," grumbled Koschei, considering whether or not he should kill the blond boy too. He looked at the boy's sweet, sweet face and decided that he wouldn't be able to bring himself to kill something so innocent. His face softened and he helped the boy up.

"Thanks!" The boy grinned. "I'm Theta Sigma, by the way. You can call me Theta, though."

Koschei nodded evilly in acknowledgement. "Koschei."

"They made me look into that thing, Koschei! It was so scary," Theta said, his lip quivering.

"Yes, they made me look into it too."

"You must be eight, then! Oh, this is brilliant. We're going to school together! We're going to be the bestest of friends!"

Koschei smiled a bit. But then he frowned again, because he was evil.

"I'm scared," said Theta. "I don't know anyone here. What if they hate me?"

Koschei had not signed up for this. He sighed. "I'll be there for you whatever happens."

Theta turned to him. "Promise?" he said sweetly.

"Promise."

They took each other's hands and walked together through the doors of the Academy.
