Wednesday found me with Hayden at Skywalker Ranch for my reading with George Lucas. He opened the door and let us in. I had expected to walk into a museum of Star Wars stuff, but his home was very normal. At least, at first look.

Integrated into his décor were various toys, props, pictures, and merchandise. The rug in the living room looked like an art deco gray blob on black, but upon close inspection, I saw that it was really the Millennium Falcon.  I had to remember that this was a professional visit, and forced myself to focus on what my host had to say.

"So let's get business out of the way, then I'll give you a tour." He smiled when he noticed I was distracted. I cleared my throat.

"Oh, right. Yes. Sounds like a good plan." I replied. He gave a friendly laugh.

"So the part is for a new character, Kyree Stah. She's very similar to Anakin, but lacks his arrogance and anger issues. She's more patient, like Obi-Wan." He explained, handing both Hayden and I a script. I took it and opened to a page that had been saved with a sticky note.  "Take a few minutes to read the scene."

I read it through a couple times. It was a heart wrenching scene, in it, my character's master is killed protecting her. The dialog was between Kyree and Anakin, which meant I'd be reading with Hayden. When I felt confident, I lowered the script and looked up.

"Start whenever you're ready. I'm going to record it for the casting director. " Lucas said with a patient smile. I nodded and cleared my throat. He turned on a hand held camera.

"The fuel cells, over there." I said. "There should be a ventilation shaft. We can use that to escape the blast we set off."

"That's not going to leave any room for error, Kyree." Hayden replied. "We have one chance at this."

"I know." I paused. "I'll go. I'm faster and lighter."

"I have better reflexes, no offence." He shrugged.

"In this case, speed is the best bet. Master Utara says to play to the strengths needed in the moment." I told him, making sure to sound wise. He sighed.

"Fine, you go have all the fun."

"Do you still have that thermal detonator?" I asked.

"Right here." He replied, mimicking the act of holding something up. I pretended to reach for it.

"Master Utara!" I exclaimed. The script read that the Jedi master ran up and snatched the device from Anakin before Kyree could take it.

"Stay here, both of you." George said reading the line. "I'll be right back, Padawans."

George read the set direction,  detailing how Utara runs to the fuel cell, sets off the detonator, then is bombarded with blaster fire from the droid army before she can escape into the ventilation shaft. Kyree starts running towards her master, but is held back by Anakin.

"No!" Hayden shouts.

"Let me go! I have to help!" I shout back.

"You can't help. It's too late. There isn't time."

"Both Jedi watch as the fuel cell explodes, claiming the life of Jedi master Utara Kenoh." George reads.

"MASTER UTARA!" I scream, devastated. Tears stung at my eyes as I pictured the scene in my mind. I gave a stunned look before starting to sob. I cried for a few seconds, then looked up. "And scene."
