You and Emilia rode quickly over the plains towards your village. The only sound coming from anywhere were the occasional pants that came from either you or her, the horses calling out to each other, and the horses' feet hitting the ground.
Both of you bounced on the backs of the horses, trying to keep yourselves steady due to the constant travel. You couldn't even remember the last time you ate some food, or drunk some water. Your mouth was completely dry, the only thing giving you salvation was your saliva.
"So, the reason why Krane is so in love with me is because of your wish?" You had to ask once again. It was a little confusing, how could The Serene Waters make someone fall in love with another person who doesn't love him back? Why was it trying to dictate someone's fate.
"Yeah, I made a wish for him to fall in love with me. But I never finished my wish because Krane cut me off." She sighed as she rubbed her head down in shame. Honestly, her feelings of anger came from being used and abandoned when in reality it was her fault for not communicating with Krane more. Numerous times he made it obvious he never really cheated on her. He just wanted the best for her.
You only nodded your head, sensing how innocent she was in this problem. Even though everything was technically all her fault, she just did it out of one of human's biggest feeling. Insecurity.
Honestly, if you thought about it, you would have most likely done the same. Without the getting cut off and having a girl's village be sacrificed.
Reaching the lake took about four hours and a half due to no stopping. But, by this time, the sun was already setting. Who knows what Krane was doing by this time.
You both hopped of the horses and let them finally take a break while you and Emilia began resting.
As soon as you closed your eyes you could hear pained gasping in the distant. You slowly sat up and reached for the pistol that was laying down next to you. Emilia quietly snuck over to the horses and pulled them down so they wouldn't be shot or hurt. If the horses were to die, there's no telling how long it would take until you guys reach the village.
"Oh god, oh god, I'm here."
Horse footsteps were heard as a large gray stallion approached the water that shined brightly in the now darkening surroundings. Examining the person you could see on the horse, you noticed a girl with a darkened skin tone. It was a beautiful brown, too bad it was coated with sweat, dirt, and blood.
She slowly slipped off her horse and stumbled towards the water. You could see how she gripped onto her bleeding side. Blood literally flowed down her body with every step that she took.
"Avery!"
Emilia stood up and dashed over towards the injured girl.
Avery shot up out of shock, but as soon as she recognized Emilia she relaxed. You stood up quick and began following Emilia, and you noticed how the girl looked similar to you. She was almost like a carbon copy. The only differences were that she was a little bit darker than you, her hair was shorter, and her features were softer.
"Oh god!" Avery backed up when she saw you stalk towards her. "I'm sorry, Krane forced me to-"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. I can already tell just by looking at you. He made you pretend to be me." You rolled your eyes at the idea. Honestly, it was quite impressive he found a look alike that quick.
