How We Fell In Love

The cool breeze blew around Giavonna, causing her shoulder blade length curly hair to blow around. She crosses the street to enter the hair salon for her bi-weekly appointment. As she enters "Hannes Hair and Barber Studio" the ladies greet her from all around. While she begins to walk to Heaven's station, she notices the stares she's getting from some of the guys getting hair cuts and giving them.

"Will y'all get back to y'all's business? Y'all act like she don't come here every other week." Heaven states while coming from the back.

"Ve shut Ya trap. Vonna know what it is." Handsome, her brother argues back.

Giavonna laughs as they argue, " Come on VeVe, I got stuff to do today." She sits in the chair as Heaven starts running her fingers through her hair.

The guy sitting in Handsome's chair has been watching Gia since she stepped foot in the studio. He watches her every move as she goes about the floor to the washing station. "Gene? Aye man did you hear me?" Handsome says.

Genesis is still looking at Ms.Gia to realize he's being addressed. Handsome follows were his eyes are and smiles. "Beautiful ain't she?" Genesis looks up at him then back to Gia.

"Yeah man. She really is, what's her story?" Handsome glances over at his sister putting pin curls in Gia's hair.

"Miss Giavonna MiAmor Cambrie, that's her name. Her and her family have been friends to Heaven and the family for about 14 years now. She is the only child to her parents Giovanni and Gia Cambrie. She works at the local children's hospital as a pediatric nurse, and man does she love it. She actually just turned 24 back on November 25. She's had a few boyfriends here and there, enough to count on one hand, and only one or two were really serious. She started school early so she graduated at 16 and got Her masters in nursing at 21. That's about it besides the obvious." Handsome gave a quick run-down to Genesis as he lined up his head full of short curls.

"What's the obvious though?" He asked with curiosity. Gia sat back in the chair scrolling through her iphone just as Heaven had finished the last curl.

"The way she light up a room with just her smile. And how she turns heads with every strut she takes. The way her laugh fills your ears like the trumpets from heaven. Now if those things aren't obvious then I don't know what is."

Gene sat and thought about all that his good friend and barber had said. He noticed all of those little things he mentioned and quite a bit more. He wanted to know every last thing there was to her, no matter how he obtained it.

"Thanks Ve! You don't know how much I truly needed that." Gia stated as she moved her hands through her freshly tamed fro.

Heaven glanced at her with a crooked smile. "Yeah and maybe now you'll find you somebody to tame that ass of your's as well." She watched her best friend stare at her through the mirror of her station with slanted eyes, and a sly smirk.

"Oh whatever mamí. I'm all good over this way." With a roll of her eyes, and a wave of her hand. She dug in her purse to retrieve her wallet. "How much I owe you?"

"Enough for her to go back to school and try again for them hair liscense. Ya hair look the same as when you stepped foot in this shop G." Handsome replied as he glanced at his sister and her, before returning to his client's head.

"Shut up stupid! For your information it looks the same because that's how she likes it, in its natural state. That is unless I'm told otherwise." Ve rolled her neck at her brother. He just smacked his lips.

"Yeah Han. You say that every time I come in here. I love it. Besides you need to worry about that man's head you're working on before he walks out of here with an uneven shape up." The man reached up to feel his head.

"Man you good. She way over there she can't even see over here." Quite a few people who heard the conversation let out light laughs.

Giavonna turned to Heaven still wanting to know the amount for her hair.

"You get the same every time Von. Nothing's changed besides the growth of your hair and the day of the year. $75 is fine Pooh." Heaven cleaned around her station, sweeping up the hair that accumulated. With her back turned, Gia slipped six $20 bills into her smock.

"I love you chica. I'll call you later on tonight." Heaven spun around and hugged her friend, bidding a good bye. As Giavonna struted to the door she spoke a goodbye to everyone, not missing a flick to Handsome's ear.

"Don't make me take these clippers to that Undercover Brother fro of your's girl. Have you walking around here like somebody took a big ass bite out of an apple." That caught everyone's attention as they laughed at the two.

Gia graced his view with her freshly manicured middle finger. "Yeah I love you too G. Stay safe out there Pooh." She blew him a kiss and finally made her exit.

"Aye man my hair line better be straight, or I'm going to fuck you up Han." Gene looked in the mirror as he handed him $25.

"It is man. Now hurry up out my chair, I got more heads to Grace with my talented hands." Heaven overheard and rolls her eyes. Genesis smacked his lips as he stood and dapped him up.

"Ight man I'll see you later on." Genesis spoke his farewells and slipped out the shop. He looked around him to see if he spotted the beauty that is Giavonna. To his luck she was just leaving the coffee shop next door, headed to her car.

He watched as she gracefully moved to her car opening it to get inside. He watched as she rolled the window down and looked at him before speaking. "Did anyone ever tell you that it isn't ok to stare?" It didn't register to him what she had said due to him watching so attentively. He blinked a few times before replying.

"Huh?"

She rolled her eyes and smiled. "That's all you have to say after you were watching me so hard?" She shook her head a bit. "I said didn't anyone ever tell you that it isn't ok to stare? You wouldn't like for someone who you don't know to track your every move would you?"

She stared right into his eyes with humor laced in hers. He blinked again while licking his full-pink lips. "Oh I'm nah. I-I mean yeah they did, but know I wouldn't. I'm sorry, I just couldn't help but to notice your beauty."

She giggled softly. "Well Mr.-"

"Ge-Genesis. Genesis. My name is Genesis." Gia giggled again leaving it with a simple, but breath taking smile.

"Well Mr. Genesis, thank you for the complement, but I have to be somewhere here soon. It was nice meeting you." As she was about to put the car in gear, He jogged over to her and she heard him say, "Wait, I didn't get your name?" He stood a little ways of the car, but still close enough to smell her sweet tropical fragrance.

She glanced up at him, "It's Gia. See you around." He stood back a bit as she pulled of down the road. He watched until her car wasn't insight. He began to walk to his car. Stepping inside, he smiled a bit and whispered her name, "Gia."
