Chapter Twenty Six
I know I promised that I wouldn't revert back to my old self, and let Tess get the better of me. I knew that scheming and lying and revenge wasn't the way to go in most circumstances.
But this was totally an exception.
As she said, all is fair in love and war. So, fighting back is completely justified. She better watch what she says, or else her words will come back to bite her.
"Okay, Jamie, you understand what we need to do?" she wondered.
"Yes. Step one - I go over to Harry's flat and tell him that I was just in a bad mood that day and I didn't mean to say all those things to Tess," I said to her.
"Right," she nodded her head. "And then, meet me and Tess at my place, and we'll execute step two."
I agreed and then said goodbye to her. I walked along the streets, from the coffee shop where I had met Cher. I was going over to Harry and Louis's flat, where I knew he would be.
Once again, Louis did not know that I was back to this whole revenge thing. Because if he did, then he might screw everything up again. I knew he had the best intentions, but I really couldn't afford anything happening not according to plan this time.
I knocked on his door, and Harry appeared. He didn't look to happy to see me, and I knew it was because he was still upset with me.
"Harry," I said, apologetically. "Before you say anything, I want you to know that I'm really sorry."
This was hard. I didn't have anything to feel sorry about, and here I was talking to Harry with remorse.
"I didn't mean to sound so angry and mean," I continued, trying to sound as sincere as possible. "But, I think I was just so scared of losing you that I was - I, erm, was threatened by Tess."
Threatened. I just said that. Ugh, I hated doing this, but he had to believe me in order for this plan to go perfectly. He needed to know that I wasn't jealous or upset by their 'friendship', so he would be able to trust me again.
"That's okay," he said, his expression softening. "I understand, but Tess isn't a threat, Jamie. I promise you."
I smiled, but in my heart, I didn't believe a word he was saying. This was why I needed to conjure up a plan to stop Tess.
"Are you sure?" I asked.
"Yes, it will only be you and me. I love you so much," he said, opening his arms. I fell into him, and leaned my head on his shoulder. He gave me an affectionate kiss on the top of my head.
"I love you too, Harry," I told him. That was true. I did love him with all my heart.
"I'm glad we made up," he told me. "And for a celebratory dinner, tomorrow night - I'm going to take you out!"
I grinned. "Perfect. I will see you tomorrow night."
With one last kiss, he shut the door and I left to go to Cher's house. I took a deep breath.
Phase One: Complete
*
I knocked on the door of Cher's flat, where I knew Cher and Tess would be waiting. I had to act like I didn't think Tess was going to be over, and I braced myself for the next stage in the plan.
The door swung open and I saw Tess at the door. My face dropped (right on cue) and she smirked.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, sounding angry. I think I should go into acting - I was getting awfully good at it.
