"One beer, one lemon-mint ice tea, two cheeseburgers-

"With extra fries," I whisper.

"With extra fries." Aidan smiles as the waitress at the diner writes down our order.

After the evening turned nippy and my stomach unceremoniously announced its hunger, Aidan and I made our way to the nearby diner. We rode in silence, but unlike the other times, this one was welcoming. It gave both of us time to think about our relationship. Aidan's demeanour improved significantly and he is no longer brooding and tensed. Instead, he took my hand in his and placed it on his thigh while he drove, an act I have come to love.

The diner is smaller than the train restaurant. It is nevertheless packed, with more youngsters than the elderly. It seems to be a popular place to hang out. The scent of greasy burgers, cinnamon, coffee, popcorn and fries wafts through the air. The diner is warm and welcoming and definitely not screaming richness and sophistication like the Rayl's.

"I like this place- it's so cosy," I observe as I take in the view of the old rock-and-roll posters, the antique jukebox, and rustic lamps.

"It is. You seem to be more comfortable here than when I brought you to Rayl's."

"Rayl's a little...how to put it, umm, sophisticated and bougie. It's kind of intimidating." I grin.

"Well, don't tell that to Ray."

"Why?"

"It's his. He owns the train restaurant."

"Really? Well, it's a nice restaurant and the food is exquisite." I add honestly.
"Oh, why Rayl is spelt as R-a-y-l?"

"Yeah, it's supposed to mean Ray's hard as a railway penis."

"Eww- oh god!"

He booms with laughter as he watches my pale face flushes bright red.

"I don't think I'll ever see the restaurant the same way ever again." I deadpan.

The waitress places our order and purposely brushes her hip against Aidan.

"Call me if you need anything." She purrs.

I watch her with disdain and scoff loudly at her promiscuity. Aidan smirks at me knowingly.

"Yes- do you need anything?" The waitress says in a honeyed tone.

"No, that would be all."
We didn't order a slut, I refrain from adding.

We dig into our food as soon as she leaves. While eating, I notice a lot of people bow slightly in front of Aidan.

"Did that man just bow to you?" I finally ask when I am convinced that I am not making things up.

"We'll talk about this later- sleep at mine, tonight." He demands.

I cock an eyebrow at his authoritative tone. As much as I find his dominance attractive, it also makes me wonder whether I let him have too much of control over me.

"Aren't we a little demanding?"

He narrows his eyes at me.
"Fine. Will you sleep at mine tonight, please?"

I beam my approval.
"See, it wasn't hard."

I hear him mutter something about obedience and human, but does not clarify when I ask him about it. After dinner, we stop by my house after dinner to inform my mother and pack a few of my clothes.

"How can you walk under the sun?" I ask the one question that has been plaguing my mind ever since I came to know about Aidan's identity.

"See this?" He shows me the image of a little sun tattooed on his middle finger while he drives us to his house.
"All vampires belonging to a clan have such a mark.-"
