6 PM

You and Robin managed to drag William up the steps to your house, using your left arm to wiggle the handle, you sighed, realizing you had left your keys inside on the counter. You growled quietly, knocking on the door. You waited a moment, William quietly wheezing beside you as your mom opened the door, a sudden look of shock written upon her face as she looked to you and William. “Mom, we need your help.” She froze for a moment as she noticed your pleading expression, and blinked as she returned to her senses. “Um, of course. Come inside.” She stepped away from the doorway as Robin stood behind and you walked William through the door, setting him down on the couch gently. “You two stay with him, i’ll get some bandages.” Your mom called as she walked upstairs hastily, you sat down beside William, and Robin next to you. “You feeling okay?” you asked quietly, noticing a little bit of blood had soaked through his shirt. “I’ll live.” He muttered, turning his head to look at you as he leaned back into the couch. You heard a yelp from upstairs, hearing heavy paws thumping down the stairs quite clumsily, seeing the little pup wagging her tail brought you joy, you sprang up from the couch to greet her. “Hi Sooks! I’m so glad you made it home! Such a good girl!” You squeaked to the little Shepherd as she jumped into your arms, you hugged her tightly before placing her on the couch, turning to Robin. “Want anything to drink?” She slumped down a bit. “I’ll just have some water.” You turned around to walk to the kitchen, William swatted at your hand in an attempt to grab it but missed, grunting in frustration as he sunk back into the couch, pouting a bit as Micah jumped up onto the cushion, Suka flopped onto Robin’s lap, surprised at the big dog’s sudden presence as he licked William’s hand with his tail thumping against the back of the couch.

As you waited for the water to boil, you reached into the cupboard to grab a teabag, your favorite kind of tea. You set the teabag on the counter and got a glass for Robin, pouring some water into the cup, your attention turned back to the living room, Micah had set his paws on William’s lap with his tail wagging, Robin attempting to give him some sort of comfort. After you finished making drinks you walked back to the couch, setting them down on the coffee table in front. Your mom came downstairs with a roll of bandage, some cotton swabs and rubbing alcohol, she shooed the dogs from the couch as they ran off to play while she tends to William’s wound. You motioned for Robin to follow, she stood from the couch as she and yourself grabbed your drinks, walking over to the kitchen and pulling the barstools out from under the counter to sit on, resting your arms on top of the marbled surface. Robin took a sip of water, setting it gently in front of her as she turned to you. “Have you known him for long?” She asked, her voice lowered slightly, you sighed. “It’s complicated, but I’ve known him for a long time.” She noted your expression, mentally putting the pieces together. “Was he the reason you left?” You nodded simply, taking a sip of your tea. “That and some other things.”

Wednesday 9 AM

William had improved greatly since yesterday, your mom had taken good care of him despite everything. You stayed by his side until he fell asleep, and you said goodbye to Robin and Micah before she left, and you went to your room to sleep. You woke up early, not quite sure why but it might have had to do with you wanting to see how William was doing, you knocked gently on the door as you waited a moment, the door opening to reveal his figure, noticing he was finally able to stand, you smiled. “Good morning.” You said as a comfortable smile grew on his face. “Good morning.” He replied in a rugged voice, brushing his hand through his untamed mane in an attempt to subdue it, but it sprung back. “I hope you slept well.” You said, pulling your hair back as Suka walked out from your room, hobbling down the stairs to her own bed. “Yeah, best I’ve slept in a while.” He chuckled as you smiled. “Well, I’m not planning on going anywhere today, so make yourself at home.” You mentioned as you began walking down the stairs into the kitchen.

A Week Later, Thursday 10 AM

It had been about a week since William saved you from Tyler, you and him mostly just hung around the house doing whatever, occasionally playing some board games with your mom in the evening. After you’d had breakfast you sat on the couch with Willam, Suka hopping into your lap. “Hey Will?” You said, turning slightly to face him. “Hm?” His gaze met yours. “Do you feel like going out today?” You questioned, giving Suka gentle pats, he thought for a moment. “Sure, I could use some fresh air.” He mentioned, you lit up slightly, jumping up and skittering off to get ready, he chuckled a bit.

As you emerged from your room ready to go, you poked into your mom’s room, she was propped up on her bed watching TV. “Hey mom, me and Will are gonna go out for a bit with Suka, we’ll be back.” You chirped. “Okay honey, have fun.” She replied sweetly as you and William headed down the stairs, you got Suka’s harness and leash on and headed out the door.

Suka trots along, panting and waving her tail in the air like a flag, her teele-hued collar jingling quietly as she struts down the dirt path of the park. Willam and yourself sat down on a bench, Suka hopping up onto your lap and laying down. “Are you planning on going back?” You asked quietly, petting Suka gently. He sighed softly, looking over at you. “Maybe, I might get settled, maybe find a nice woman to marry.” He mentioned calmly, looking up at the sky. “Hmh, that sounds nice.” You stated, looking down at Suka. He laughed softly, looking back at you. “Although I don’t know if she’ll have me yet.” You looked up at him curiously, Suka tilts her head a little. “Who?” You asked stupidly, unsure if you were certain of the answer. He smiled softly, looking into your eyes calmly, you turned your body to face him. “Are you serious..?” You asked, trying your best to stay calm. He simply nods, you look around a little and then back at William. “You know my mom wouldn’t let you, right?” He sits back, leaning against he back of the bench, releasing a long sigh. “I know. I can wait a few years.” He smiles a little as he turns his head towards you. It was hard to believe, all things considered. But you felt like he’d changed, like you could trust him for real this time.

A Few months Later. Y/N’s Birthday. 10 AM

You quickly got dressed, giving you time to carefully do a bit of makeup and fix your hair in the bathroom, spritzing a little bit of perfume and bolting downstairs, your mom told you she had a big surprise waiting for you. She had left a note on the counter; ‘Meet me at the park, and bring Suka.’ It read simply. You finished getting ready, putting a leash and harness on Suka and heading to your car.

You drove down the road, your eyes focused on the road ahead with intent, Suka sat in the passenger seat beside you, her paws up on the door as she looked out the window with her tail wagging slowly, her breath began to lightly fog up the window. You briefly glanced over at her with a soft smile, your gaze returning to the road ahead, you slowed down as you approached the entrance to the park, turning into the parking lot as your eyes scanned the area, unable to see your mom anywhere. You started to think of what she could have prepared for you, trying to keep your excitement contained. You parked in a spot near the path, turning the car off and exiting the door, getting your water bottle and walking around to the other side of the car to Suka, you grabbed ahold of the lead before she she could run out, she almost smacked her face on the ground, but she got up like it was nothing, padding off ahead of you as you locked the car with a ‘honk’.

The birds chirped overhead, the light and calming colors of spring surrounded the environment, bees quietly buzzed from flower to flower, and the light of the sun beamed through the sparse canopy of the trees. You and Suka made your way to the picnic tables where your mom was waiting, you smiled, giving her a hug. “Happy birthday, honey.” She said with a slightly teary voice. You noticed her tone, pulling away. “You alright, mom?” You asked calmly. She nodded, wiping a small tear from her eye. “Yeah i’m fine. It’s just.. I can’t believe my little girl is all grown up.” She smiles behind her tears, you return a smile, giving her another hug.

She eventually calmed, clearing her throat as she sat you down at the table. “Close your eyes, I’ve got a surprise for you.” She says in an excited tone. You haven’t heard her this excited since you graduated from High School. You close your eyes, resting your arms on the table patiently as you felt your excitement growing by the second. Your mom came back a few moments later, a few whispers eventually quieting. “You can open your eyes.” She says as you open them, turning around in shock. Lily, Matthew, Jessie, Max, Nellie, your Dad and William were all there.
