When Ace woke up, she kept her eyes closed. She was on a bed... where was she? In the Union, she never got a bed... she could be with an enemy. She felt the aura next to her was the same one from before she fell unconscious. The one of the murderer. There was also another aura, weaker but more obvious and malevolent, far in the corner of the room.

It felt... warm here. In the Union, it was always cold. She guessed it preserved chemicals better. She could feel the blanket beneath her fingers, her index in some sort of clamp.

"I know you are awake," the murderer spoke. "You may open your eyes."

She tried to keep them closed, but it was as if she wasn't in control of her body anymore. Her eyes slowly opened, and she regained control of her body enough to sit up at an alarming rate. Her legs... she couldn't feel her legs!

The man in the corner noticed her movement. "I wouldn't recommend doing that. It would disrupt the flow of blood that I worked so hard to maintain."

Even though she wanted to ask where she was and why she was here, she knew talking was a sign of weakness. It meant you were desperate for answers. It was what Father had taught her. And so she grudgingly obeyed, lying back down and drifting off into sleep as Blondie rambled nonsense.

--------------------

When you next awakened, the two auras were gone, replaced by two similar ones. One of them was the Kertia Clan Leader. The other, you assumed, was his brother. They had their backs turned towards you, conversing in quiet tones.

"Brother, why do we have to watch over this disgusting human again?"

"You know, you may be a minute older than me, but you certainly act younger," Tall Blondie said. "We're doing this because the Noblesse said so."

"Does watching over this human actually take two pureblooded members of the Kertia clan to accomplish?" Short Blondie asked, ignoring the first fact. Was he really the older brother? Ace doubted they were related at all.

"They said she wields power a lot like Frankenstein's," remarked Tall Blondie. "And she caused that huge crater behind the house." Now that looked like the older brother.

"A filthy human caused that?!"

Tall Blondie nodded in agreement as you sat up slowly. They still hadn't noticed you were awake. You touched the area of your knee brace, which was still intact. You could feel your legs again. You had complete control of them, too. You could feel everything in the room. All the metal that made up everything, invisible dirt that people had tracked in, the dirt surrounding the walls... everything. All thanks to telekinesis. You mimicked the blondies' auras, melding them into a single weapon: a set of blades. Kartas. Their soul weapon. It was weird how they shared one.

Then they had noticed her.

"That aura..."

"Rael, go get Frankenstein and the others."

"But-"

"Even with a complete soul weapon, neither of us could defeat her. Go."

After Rael used his speed to his advantage and left, you and Rajak circled around each other. He summoned his soul weapon, Kartas. It was less decorative than yours since it was incomplete.

"Something tells me you won't talk."

Yeah. Who could have guessed.

You rushed towards each other, ready to fight.

--------------------

The door burst open as Rael entered, soul weapon ready, followed by Frankenstein, Raizel, Regis, Seira, Karius, Tao, Takio, and M-21.

"Oh, Rajak. Glad to see the lab is still intact," Frankenstein gleefully remarked. He noticed a broken vial with shards of glass on the floor. His eye twitched. "Mostly."

Rajak was pinning Ace down on the floor, hands behind her back. Rael winced as some bad memories came back to him.

When Frankenstein went to sweep up the broken glass of the vial, however, the room glitched. Raizel narrowed his eyes and used a day of his life to remove the illusion. The lab was on fire. Ace and Rajak were locked in a battle of blades, movements too fast to see. The movements slowed as she disarmed his right hand, pinning him against the wall with her first blade against his throat, barely blocked by his second. Her second blade was in her other hand, resting at her side.

"Brother!" Rael ran towards them, tackling Ace with a stab in her left arm, which was holding the second blade. They both fell and rolled to the side, Rael on top of Ace.

With a grunt, Ace called large chunks of rock from the ground beneath them to push him off of her, clutching her new wound while letting the blades dissolve into darkness.

"Boss..." Frankenstein heard Tao's voice and looked back at him. "Her blood..."

Tao was right. There was something wrong with her blood. It wasn't the universal red color, but black. Inky, jet black, like Raizel's hair. It stained the white tiles of the already ruined lab as she stood back up, ripping Grandia from her arm and tossing it to the side. She looked at the newcomers, eyes widening in recognition.

M-21? Takio? Tao? She had seen M-21 in Lab 1. He often hung around M-24, but had friends in the rest of their group, which ranged from M-1 to M-100.

"Ace."
