Chapter 30

Rory POV.

"Good luck Rory" Luke had not hesitated to bring me to my first day of work "remember you have to learn as you go so don't put pressure on yourself if you don't know everything from today."

I just smiled looking at him and felt very grateful, it was amazing how Luke in months had done for me what my father had not done in years.

"Thanks Luke, say hi to mom when you get home, see you guys at night."

I said goodbye and got out of the car settling into my new work uniform at a small restaurant which consisted of 50s fashion and a stupid hat but it was part of the job so I couldn't do anything.

The person who hired me told me that the manager was going to see me today so I walked in and asked for the manager.
A guy in a uniform similar to mine smiled at me and went to get the manager.
I was looking around the place when I heard someone talking to me behind my back.

"Hi you must be the new girl right?"

I turned around smiling but that smile disappeared when I saw who the manager was and therefore my new boss who's expression also changed when she recognized me.

"You've got to be fucking kidding me" she mumbled as she looked at me and ran a hand through her hair.

I hadn't seen her again since the occasion at Marshall's house but that didn't mean I wasn't still scared of her, from the first moment Kim wanted to beat me up and right now there wasn't a Marshall or Sharonda that was going to defend me.

"Look I had no idea you worked here otherwise I would never..." I couldn't continue because she interrupted me.

"Basically what you have to do is serve people, we are not many workers. You will be the waitress, John is the cashier and of course there are the kitchen staff. I'll be there for any situation you need and I'm also a waitress."

She told me in a serious but calm tone, I could only nod unable to find my voice and felt pathetic. How could I be so afraid of a person? Worse, my new boss.

"Perfect, come to show you your locker and explain everything else" and I could only nod again and follow her.

My first day came to an end and I had to admit that even though she surely didn't like me, Kim was very patient with me during the day, she explained things to me even more than twice and helped me a lot but still there was that seriousness between us but as long as I could work everything was fine.

"Ok I'm leaving girls, see you tomorrow" John said goodbye smiling and Kim and I said goodbye too.

From what I had understood Kim closed the restaurant every night and John and I would take turns closing along with her.

As soon as John left I felt very uncomfortable, John had also been very nice and had helped things between Kim and I not feel so tense during the day but now without him you could feel the tension.

"Ok what we do before we close the place is clean up a bit, tidy up.." Kim started to explain and when she finished quickly the very awkward silence returned.

I started doing everything Kim explained to me, I was carrying some stuff to the back when without realizing it I stepped wrong and Kim who was behind me tried to grab me but we both ended up on the floor groaning as we fell backwards.

"Shit.." I mumbled in fright as I looked at Kim who also had a similar expression until she quickly started laughing causing me to laugh too.
