I couldn't believe my eyes. This was a small village. Around 20 cottages. Why was this happening here? Of all places..? What I seen next would haunt me for the rest of my life.. Looking across the road into Miss Laidlaw's living room, all I could see was her head and neck being help, her crying and mouthing something, possibley a prayer, before her head was sharply turned and her body fell to the ground seperated from her head. A tall, heavily built man walked out of Miss Laidlaw's house, clutching a bloody cotton bag to his side. His long jet black hair whipping in the wind. He looked full of anger, his face a permanent growl. He was wearing baggy trousers tucked into heavy looking army boots, and a long black leather jacket. I won't lie to you, he looked fucking intimidating. Suddenly his vision lined up with mine that was staring at him through my gran's blinds. His growl turned into an evil smile.. He chuckled to himself, and mumbled something i couldnt hear through the glass, and with a whip of his jacket, he ran off.
"Jane!!! Jane!!! Are you there!? Jane!!!"
It was my gran! I ran upstairs and into her room where she was lying in her bed. I went over to her bed side crying.
"Gran... Whats happening.. Who are those people outside..?"
"No time to talk Jane. Just run. Go out the back door. Don't turn back Jane, just run until you can't run anymore.."
"I'm not leaving you here gran, I won't!" I screamed, clutching her hands.
"Just go Jane! I'll be fine! Just go! Take this, don't read it until you've stopped" She said quickly while placing an old stained envelope into my hands.
"I love you Gran.." I said through my tears.
"I love you too Jane, with all my heart.. You are the most precious thing i have ever-"
She was cut off by a man in a black hooded cape jumping through the window as if he flew through it. He started walking slowly to us.. I couldnt see his face.
"Go. Now!" My gran whispered to me.
Without hesitation I fled that room, I raced through the kitchen, out the backdoor, over her short fence and through the woods. I could hear my gran screaming at that man before her screams were silenced. He had killed her. He had killed her like he had killed my whole village.
