Sasori flaked on you. To be completely fair it wasn't like he held any obligation towards the plans he had tried to suggest, but you still couldn't help but to feel disappointed regardless.

6:04 AM (Sasori): Good morning. I have business to attend to today, so we'll have to reschedule for another time.

You sighed as you reread the message over. You had an early morning class you needed to attend in a couple of hours so you figured you could fill your extra free time with getting some assignments done early afterwards. Before you had met Sasori the idea of busying your time with work, assignments, and fresh knowledge never failed to appeal to your senses. However, all of those things now felt like a nuisance. Now you longed for some form of social contact, but the object of your affections had no time for you today. You couldn't deny that there was really only one person you wanted to spend the day with, but you couldn't rush good things. Life still continued on with it's responsibilities whether or not you were ready for the moment to end.

Your class had been enjoyable, but boring. It had been a refresh on everything you had studied up to this point, and you had a hard time focusing. Even now, back at home, you couldn't focus. You tapped your pen languidly against your desk, eyes glued to the string of notes on your page. Spot the errors, it suggested. You sighed at having to deal with busy work, but you knew there were other hardworking students who probably appreciated the break. Your phone lit up to your right, and you felt your heart jump. It quickly fell.

1:26 PM (Kankuro): Hey! What's up, (Y/N)? Are you free today? I'm starving.

You pondered the message for a moment. On one hand, you were hungry and in need of a distraction. On the other, committing to a social occasion seemed exhausting. Kankuro had always been a good friend to you despite constantly dodging his plans in the past. He had always made a solid effort to break through your shell in the years you'd known each other, but you were still so stubborn in your ways. You mulled it over, but ultimately decided that it would be good to get out of the house and hopefully get Sasori off your mind.

1:30 PM (Y/N): Actually, I'm hungry, too. Good timing! It's kind of far, but maybe we could go eat at that new brunch spot at the edge of town. Like over where my job is.

1:32 PM (Kankuro): Yes! That place looked soo good, but I couldn't get either of my lousy siblings to come with me.

You snorted.

1:33 PM (Kankuro): Let's meet at the craft store that's a block away and just walk over. I need a couple of things, and it's a nice day. I'll see you in an hour.

1:35 PM (Y/N): Okay, see you soon!

His bright enthusiasm was a nice thing to shake up your day. You really should give your friends more of a chance.

After a quick refresh you decided to take the bus to your destination. You had an overly nice car thanks to your parents, but you felt too embarrassed to use it since it felt like flaunting your wealth. You weren't materialistic, and you liked the idea of contributing towards a better environment through carpooling. There were days where you enjoyed people watching, and just being a bystander to the bustling world. You had found a lot of inspiration through observing your surroundings and the people around you. You didn't want to be special or different, you just wanted to be an ordinary citizen just like everyone else. You hated having to worry about trivial things your mother forced on you in the name of the family business.

"Kankuro, over here!" You called, waving your arm. The hooded man turned around, a grin lighting up his painted features. You broke out into a huge grin yourself. He crossed the short distance through the crowd to scoop you up into his arms as per tradition, twirling you around.
