“Nice place,” Damon said as he walked into the warehouse Jess was quickly transforming into a pretty decent night club.

“What are you doing here?” Jess asked him. She was finishing the last of the appetizers for the huge investment meeting she told him he wasn’t invited to.

“I’m here for the investment meeting,” Damon smiled as he took a seat at the bar.

“For the last time I don’t want or need your money,” Jess yelled at him.

“Geez, it’s not like I’m making you marry me,” Damon smiled at her as he sampled a baby blue cocktail. “This is really good. You should call it Damon.”

“One it’s a blue bonanza via David, and two Ryan’s not forcing me to marry him,” Jess said continuing to slice the garnish lemons and oranges for her drinks. Damon walked behind the bar to help Jess.

“That’s not what Katherine said,” Damon added as he chopped up some pineapple.

Jess looked over at him. “Since when are you and Kat chummy?” she laughed.

“We have a way of coming together for a common goal,” Damon shrugged never once looking up at Jess.

“What might that goal be? Get Elena away from Stefan 2.8?” Jess asked with a deep throaty laugh.

“So what’s the deal with this prenupt war?” Damon asked.

“Since when do you care about internet gossip? You and Kat are two little clucking hens I can never get to shut up,” Jess said realizing what they were doing. Katherine and Damon were trying to get rid of Ryan, but why? “Why are you here?”

“Putting my money where my mouth is, and I like watching you do business,” he said wiggling his eyebrows at her. “So if it’s not black mail or money why postpone marrying Ryan?” he asked her.

“I want Luckey to stay with David or Jamie if something happens to me,” she said looking into Damon’s eyes.

“So you don’t trust him with Violet?” Damon asked with a questioning look.

“I never said that,” Jess said wiping her hands and going to get changed. “I’ll be right back, please don’t fuck up.”

When Jess returned Damon was doing a fairly good job of keeping everyone occupied. She walked behind the bar. “And that’s why I keep giving this lovely lady all my money. You look marvelous,” an older gentleman said as he reached over the bar to hug Jess.

“Thank you Otis,” Jess said. “I’ve learned from the best,” she said winking her eye.

“Yes your mother was quite the entrepreneur too. I’m sure she’s very proud of you.”

“I hope so,” Jess said. Damon was sure Otis didn’t notice the sadness that washed over Jess’s face. Damon grabbed her hand.
