CHIAROSCURO

Dawn, the Prince of light was pronounced dead as soon as he was born. The King and Queen was devastated as they hold the lost offspring in their arms.
Trying to understand the unexplained situation, they wished not to give up on their son.
The king of light summoned Kieran, the god of the underworld and begged for his son's life. He offered every possession he has so his son could live, but Kieran only wanted one thing in return, the Prince's life.
"On his 18th birthday, he will become one of my people, and live with me in the underworld for eternity." This was Kieran's condition
Desperate for his son's life, the King agreed to his condition. And so the baby started crying as soon as Kieran vanished which sealed the agreement.

The desperate couple hid the secret from their son and enjoyed their happy moments, creating memories together. Dawn grew up strong and bright. His father trained him with swords and arrows preparing him for the future. And as a Prince, he always obey the King's commands.

As time goes by, Dawn started to experienced dark dreams and visions that is out of the light context. He asked his mom but she nervously advised his son not to mind it, as it is just a dream.

One day, the king fell really ill. He summoned his son and told him the secret that they've been hiding for years. The king does not wish for his son to get stuck in the underworld forever. It is something that he regrets a little, wishing that the memories they made will outnumbered the grief that they might feel once he's gone.
Dawn was astonished by the story that makes no sense to him. And so he refused to live in the underworld.
But the agreement was sealed. The only way to break it, is for him to die.
"On the day before your birthday, stab your chest with a knife. That's the only way to break the agreement."

The king exclaimed with his last breath before he died.

The night before his birthday, he locked himself inside his room with a sharp knife in his hand, staring at the ticking clock.
All the memories he had flashed in front of him as tears started to fall from his eyes. As soon as the clock turned 12, the bell rungs as signal for the midnight.
With his hesitating head, he stabbed his chest with the knife he's holding.
But nothing happened...
He did not die...
His eyes widened in upset and stabbed himself multiple times.
But it's not working...

Kieran, the god of the underworld, slowly appeared in front of him, offering his hand as he flashed a vile grin to the prince.

"You're mine."
