Climbing the Ranks

Akima's POV

It's the day after Haruhi became the Host Club's errand boy. Kyoya is still the only one aside from me that knows Haruhi is a girl. Even the rest of the school and teachers believe she is a he. I'm at the host club again, sitting with Kyoya. Haruhi had been sent to the store to get somethings.

"So you don't want the others to know?" I ask Kyoya quietly.

"It is not the right time, my father does not want it announced until you're eighteen" he states lowly.

"Encase the marriage contract is annulled" I state.

"You catch on quick" he says with a small smile. Just then Haruhi returns. Tamaki looks up from his guests.

"Speak of the devil! Thanks for doing the shopping little piglet. Did you get everything on our list?" he asks her.

"What? Piglet?" Haruhi mutters. She hands him the bag and he starts to go through it.

"Hey, wait a minute, what is this?" he asks her. I get up and go over. To see him holding instant coffee.

"Just what it looks like. It's coffee" Haruhi tells him.

"I've never seen this brand before. Is this the kind that's already ground?" Tamaki asks her.

"What are you talking about?" Haruhi asks him.

"It's instant coffee" I add.

"It's instant?" Tamaki's guests ask.

"Whoa. I've heard of this before. It's commoners' coffee. You just add hot water" Tamaki states.

"I didn't know there was such a thing" one of the girls says.

"So it's true then. Poor people don't even have enough time to grind their own coffee beans" another says. The other girls nod their heads in agreement.

"Commoners are pretty smart" Kyoya says appearing at my side with the twins.

"100 grams for ¥300" Hikaru says.

"That's a lot less than we normally pay" Karou adds.

"And just as good" I tell them with a smile.

"I'm going to give it a try" Tamaki states.

"Wonderful, Haruhi help my make some" I say as I take the instant coffee from Tamaki. Haruhi goes to boil the kettle. I put a teaspoon of the instant coffee in four different cups. Haruhi then paws the water into them and we mix them. Adding a dash of cream into each. I take one for myself and sit at the table. I take a sip and smile happily.

"Is it really that good?" Kyoya asks as we joins me.

"Yes, try some" I say offering him the cup. He takes it and takes a sip.

"It's better then I thought it would be" he states handing it back to me. He gets back to budgeting. "It'll help the clubs budget a lot if we swap to buying the instant coffee instead of the usual brand" he tells me.

"I could help you find other cheaper things to buy in place of the expensive stuff" I offer. He nods his head. Just then Mori and Honey arrive and Honey looks really sleepy.

"Sorry, we're running late" Honey tells their guests.

"Hello Honey. Hey Mori" one of the girls says.

"We've been waiting here for you guys, hi" another says.

"I'm sorry. I was waiting for Takashi to finish his kendo meeting and I fell asleep. Mm, and I'm still not completely awake" Honey says rubbing sleep from his eyes. Making the girls squeal in delight. Is he really the oldest one here?

"Is that boy really a third year student?" Haruhi asks.

"Honey-senpai may seem young and childish, but he's a prodigy" Kyoya states. "And then Mori-senpai's allure is his strong and silent disposition" he adds. I nod my head and go back to drinking my coffee.

"Hey Haru-chan, do you want to go have some cake with me?"Honey asks her while hugging her arm. "You to Aki-chan" he adds looking at me.

"Thanks, but I don't really like cake" Haruhi tells him.

"I'm sorry Honey Senpai, I am still full from lunch. Another time" I tell him.

"Then how would one of you like to hold my bunny Usa-chan?" he asks us.

"I'm not into bunnies" Haruhi tells him.

"Are you saying you don't like Usa-chan?" Honey asks her holding up a pink stuffed bunny.

"I guess he is kinda cute, huh" Haruhi admits. I see Honey look at her in surprise. He just figured out her secret. He leaves Usa-chan with her and returns to his guests.

"One down, four to go" I tell Kyoya and he nods his head. Soon all the girls leave and it's time for a meeting. Where the twins remove Haruhi's glasses and she is given a male uniform with contact lenses. The twins figure out she's a girl. She climbs the ranks and is made a host. After her first round of guests she is deemed the natural type. Also Mori finds out she's a girl.

Now it's only Tamaki. The twins are taking bets from Honey, Mori and Kyoya on how long it'll take for Tamaki to figure it our. There was an incident in the club room today that made us lose a guest. But she was really bitchy. She throw Haruhi's bag in a pond and accused her of sexual harassment during club hours. So Tamaki kicked her out.

However, Haruhi ended up soaked and needed to change clothes. I gave her a spare dress as it was the only thing we had. Tamaki walked in on her changing and now knows she's a girl. The twins won the bet, so they were happy.  We all agree to keep Haruhi's true gender a secret, while Tamaki blushed madly.

Anyway Kyoya dropped me off home. "Your park will be ready for a test run in a few weeks right?" he asks me.

"Yes, my mother and I were going to spend a day there" I tell him.

"No need, I think it'd be a nice way for the club to relax. Just us and the other hosts. No girls, I shall take notes" he tells me.

"Are you sure? What is something goes wrong?" I ask him concerned.

"Everything will be fine, besides my father wants to make sure his money is being well spent" he states. I nod my head in understanding. "See you tomorrow" he says as we reach my house. I nod my head and get out of the limo with my bag. I thank him and he leaves. I go inside and do my homework.
