The mud was thick. She almost sunk into it as her foot fell with a plop. Didn't feel so hot either. She quickly pulled her foot out and saw it covered in the oozing brown mud. This would take some cleaning on her part.
Fields had been ruined by the heavy rain, this was bad damage, and it appeared that some the houses had moved. It didn't smell to bad though. The after smell of rain was always refreshing, just like the cool air.
Beth eventually got over the fact that her feet would be getting dirty and stepped onto the ground. Everytime she would try lifting her foot from the damp soil, a cartoon like soundeffect would come up and the mud wouldn't let go of her feet like it's life depended on it. She shivered, as she didn't like the sound it made.
Farmers somewhat near her came out to check, and they would have a devastated look. She could understand, that was their ways of life. It was how they could barely live, and pay taxes and such. She hurried into the town, she didn't want to get too caught up in the cleaning up process.
It was a long walk, from her home on the outskirts to the busy and bustling city area. She would meet up with her friend, Nathan, along this road and go the the inner parts of the city with him, but she didn't want to both him after this storm. He was most likely busy, so she was somewhat jogging now. It was hard to jog in this mud with flats though.
When she got into the town she already saw a large amount of people. They were setting up their stands. She also saw a few of the people that she despised. The people who would go out onto the street yelling about religion and bother people for almost no reason. She slipped past and went to buy some sweeter things. They might be more money though.. She was debating a bit to herself on whether to buy the item or not. The temptation won, and she ended up buying a jar of honey, even if it was a bit pricey.
It was starting to get more busy, and people picking up, or setting up stands. Beth left before it got busy and finally decided to visit Nathan and see how he was doing. She wasn't fast, and didn't see him there. Still busy? Over to his house she went.
She walked down a unkept stone path. Weeds and damp yellow grass covered the edges of the stone. Moss grew over some, so she had to be careful or she'd slip and fall. She held the honey in a small bag, but dropping it would break the glass either way. No falling allowed. Well, except that she was startled. She jumped about a foot in the air then fell on her behind. The bag landed in her lap though, luckily. The one who startled her was none other than Nathan.
Nathan laughed at her. Beth just glared then said," You could've wasted my honey! It wasn't cheap you baboon!"
Nathan stuck his tongue out and said," Have fun sometimes!"
Beth frowned a bit. She pushed herself up off the damp soil, then realized something else. Mud got on her skirt, oh great. She said," You got mud on my skirt too. It isn't a short walk to my home you know?!"
Nathan giggled," Oh don't worry about a small bit of mud."
"Yea, small," she replied in a rather sarcastic tone, rolling her eyes.
Nathan gave in sighing," Come on, I'll go ask my mother is she has any spare. She probably does."
