MC is a character in the first point of view that will never have their name mention, they are someone who has strange dreams that made them think of those as memories and made them realize how the world can be cruel if we let it affect us just because that dream made them felt as it was real and reality truly is a cruel world.
knowing too much can be painful, as they say. that's why they would rather pretend and lie to themselves and believe all but a lie as well. yet they will never care either way. cause they won't be hurt if they would be attached to people or the so-called social norms.
they thought they are free yet they still chain themselves in that so-called false reality. making the things that can be called out of this world adventure is just a mare dream. even they drifted to the other world by a chance.
to why that happens, well...
