Coded

I walked through the building, checking each door, looking for the box that held the mask I was looking for. Each door turned up empty, and each time it was empty, my frustration grew.

"I swear to the ones closer to god if cannot find this damn mask ill throw myself off this rooftop."

An hour came and went. Nothing. I kept going down. This building was gigantic, meaning the point where the floor cut off and you couldn't go any further was increased by a substantial amount.

I opened the door closest to me. Counting this one, its the 54th room I have checked in this maze of a building.

If I hadn't put sniper in a room on the floor just below the rooftop, I would have had even more trouble finding my way back.

I opened the drawers of the dressers, looked underneath both beds in the room, and checked the bathroom.

Absolutely nothing.

"Fucking hell. Where is this god damn box?" I went over to the window.

I probably just needed more light in here. I pulled the curtains open, nodding in satisfaction at the small swishing noise it made as it dragged across the floor.

A terrace!

I excitedly slid the glass door open, and stepped out. It, thankfully, had a railing, and I rested on it, closing my eyes as the sun beat down on my face. I loved that feeling. When your sitting in the sun, and it makes you drowsy, but a kind of warm, perfect tiredness. I smiled, sitting there for a few minutes.

When I opened my eyes, I glanced down. Right in front of me was a little white box.

"coincidence? I think not." I looked around, spotting dealer mask on the opposite building. She waved, then pointed downwards.

On the box was a note:

Darling, the box was on the roof the entire time. I found it amusing watching you scrambling from door to door. Like a chicken with its head cut off. I must admit, it got a tad bit boring after the 7th floor, and after the 32rd door you had checked, i decided to lend a hand. Really, one has to consider the easiest option as the first one. Go save your friend, love. You owe me one~

I looked back up, scowling. She was gone. No trace of her anywhere. Figures.

I opened the box, holding my breath. Inside, was a mask. Two eyes, and solid white for where the mouth usually is. I gulped.

For all I know, she could have been lying to me. What if I become controlled by the mask.

But...

Sniper needs me.

"Come on y/n. Get your shit together. Everything is going to turn out fine." My voice trembled. Yeah, like that really helped.

I took a deep breathe, and brought the mask up to my face, the code looking menacing and deadly. I tied it onto my forehead, collapsing onto the deck.

Everything went dark

------+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++--------

"Hello."

Wha-?

" L/n, F/n. I am the code from the mask you reçeived. I am now downloading the data that is required for you to become one who is closer to god."

"Wait, what? What data?"

I was floating in nothingness. It was just an empty expanse that I assumed was my mind, or body, or soul or whatever. I looked down.

Ah. I hope my clothes come back.

Memories I had made over the years were floating in the nothingness; first time I rode my bike, first day at school. Random bits of info floated through my brain too: The name of that one girl who said we knew each other but I couldn't remember her name so I just nodded and acted like I knew her.

Of course her name was Ashley.

"What data?"

"I am downloading your abilities. Some you have a natural ability for; which you should be able to use once you wake up. Others, it seems, you need to work towards "unlocking", in a sense. It's harder for you to use those abilities, so I have put them in the recesses of your mind."

"Will this data help bring someone out of hibernation?"

"Yes. Ones who are closer to god have the ability to control Angels. This includes bringing them out of hibernation, keeping them from attacking you, etc."

"Ah." What does one talk about with a weird voice in their head? I sat there, enjoying my memories before I forgot them again.

"The downloading is complete. You will wake up in three seconds."

I felt as I was being ripped upwards by an invisible force.

"...3..." I closed my eyes. The pressure was too much.

"...2.." I was starting to feel sleepy. I blinked slowly, each time my eyes opened slower and slower.

"...1.."
