As a child, Dale was very curious. So when he found a book about the times back in the Middle Ages, he was fascinated by the illustrations on the book. Grand castles, elegant mansions, towering walls, impenetrable fortresses. So that day, Dale had already found what he wanted to do. To build medieval infrastructures.
Dale began studying and researching medieval buildings. He also worked hard to practice his artistic skills. When he finished high school, he went to a famous university to study architecture major in Medieval Architecture.
His parents and the clan were very surprised that day when he announced his acceptance to the university under the said course. They were accepting at first with little enthusiasm to his chosen field.
In the the eyes of the Walker Household, the field of architecture is barely passable for an honorable mage. The family had a long history of fame and prestige in the magic community and produced big names in the field of magic research, magi-technology, military, and even politics. They valued the interest of the family and mostly urged the younger generations to bring fame to the family. Then Dale comes studying under the degree of architecture, and worse of all is majoring in some past period. A Walker mage architect was unheard of! They tolerated Dale at first thinking that he'll change his mind sooner or later.
As years go on, Dale still studied hard in his chosen field.
After 5 years of learning, he graduated and unbelievably attained the title of a High Mage. One of the very few students to reach this stage.
In the meantime, the Walker Household was elated by the news. But alas and alack, what does an architect mage majoring in Medieval Architecture do in the modern era of magic and technology?
Dale spent 7 years trying to find a way to bring back the elegance of medieval times but proved useless against high-rise buildings, glass-like skyscrapers, contemporary and minimalist home designs, etc. Yes, there were several times he was tasked to build his design here and there but what Dale wanted was to build a city that screams the beauty of the Middle Ages. Thus he was called the Most Useless High Mage.
The Walker Household couldn't take the shame so they made a move. First, they insisted Dale abandon his passion, which of course was rejected by him. Soon they tried harassment, different kinds of threats, physical bullying. Even as High Mage, Dale couldn't protect himself from numerous high-ranking mages in the family.
Then one day, Dale met an unfortunate accident. Seemingly that even the world was despising him.
It was afternoon when Dale arrived at his workplace. It is a deep cave exploration for a mining company. If you are wondering why is an architect high mage was invited to this project, know that Dale is actually an Earth Mage. His studies taught him the practicality of earth magic in building, and fortunately, he had a high affinity with earth elements. The company invited him to assist them in surveying the site. Dale reluctantly agreed because he's been short on money lately.
Soon the team began to explore the cave. With their equipment on, the team of seven delved deeper into the cave to further map where the mineral deposits are. Thankfully with the advancement of technology and the help of magic, they soon finished their task and began to return.
On their way out, suddenly they heard a low rumbling noise and a slight tremor. Dale was a bit relaxed so the changes underground went unnoticed. Without warning, the ground the team was standing caved in!
"Ahhhhhh!" The panicked screams of the team members echoed within the cave walls as they drop into the dark pit.
Dale quickly mobilized his magic when the cave also began to collapse. Stabilizing the entire cave is out of the question for the moment so he chooses to save his team first.
