Chapter One
Song Minseo has never been closer to giving up.
"I need a break," she whispered as she allowed herself to fall to the floor, her fingers immediately reaching to undo her ballet shoes. The video on the laptop screen continued to play, the instructor already moving onto the next part. Minseo groaned as she watched her perfectly complete the steps, "she makes it look so easy."
She loved ballet, she really did, but sometimes it gets hard juggling dance school with her part time job. Having less time as the other dancers to practice sometimes leaves her with a bitter feeling, not that it strongly affects her performance as she always makes up for lost time by practicing late into the night.
A loud ding rang through her small apartment signalling her friends arrival on the roof where the two planned on meeting, stuffing her ballet shoes into a bag, she slipped into a pair of trainers and quickly left her home.
"Yah, Minseo," was heard as soon as she stepped foot onto the roof, looking up at her friend; Eunyoo.
"I see you've prepared your stage," Minseo commented looking around at the space Eunyoo has cleared.
"Our stage, my first performance was with you so the last will be too," her friend replied, Minseo stared at her as sadness started to creep in, letting out a long breath she shook her head.
"It doesn't have to be your last."
"It does."
A silence between the two girls settled, Minseo looking at Eunyoo with slightly teary eyes. It was swiftly broken as Eunyoo unpacked Minseo's shoes and threw them at her, telling her to hurry up and get ready.
An unknown dark haired boy stepped onto the roof quietly going unnoticed by the girls who were gracefully performing intricate moves, they were in perfect harmony having done many dances together. Minseo heard a disgusted gasp beside her, turning she saw Eunyoo looking down at her shoes where a piece of gum had stuck onto the bottom. Minseo scrunched up her nose at the sight, happy it wasn't her it happened to - she can't afford to ruin another pair. Looking back up she caught the eye of the mystery boy, she smiled slightly.
"Are you new?" Minseo asked, interrupting Eunyoo's accusation of him leaving the gum. The boy nodded in response, stepping down from the edge as the two girls pulled a cigarette out.
"Don't die here," Eunyoo began, "you'll end up causing trouble for everyone else who lives here. Jump off some other building."
"Ignore her," Minseo rolled her eyes, before giving the boy a bright smile, "most people do."
They watched as he carried on walking down the stairs and back into the building, "you're awful," Minseo said, giving her friend a light push. Eunyoo laughed in response, raising her lighter to light the cigarette that was hanging from Minseo's mouth.
"You love it really."
The old radio filled the small apartment with relaxing music as Minseo was finishing getting ready for work, "I'm off tomorrow so I can learn the rest of the routine and practice enough times for the evaluations next week. It'll be fine," she whispered to herself, hoping that it will be fine. The evaluations coming up is one of the most important ones, they determine whether or not she will be able to audition for the next recital. Standing up straight she pushed a piece of her short dyed-blonde behind her ears, eyes full of determination she thought about all the hours of hard work she has done to get to where she is. I'll do whatever to ace the evaluations and the auditions that come after.
Minseo just left her home and instantly collided with someone's chest, letting out a small gasp in shock. She looked up to find Eunhyuk, Eunyoo's attractive brother.
"Are you okay?" Eunhyuk asked, his gaze softening slightly.
"I'm okay, sorry for bumping into you," Minseo blushed, eyes looking anywhere but at him.
"Are you heading down? The elevator is down, we have to take the stairs," Eunhyuk gently steered her towards the right direction, her heart beating loudly due to the close contact. I hope he can't hear she thought as she helplessly let him lead her down to the lobby.
