3rd POV
"Akaashi?" Bokuto said softly, knocking on the door to the guest bedroom. He can hear tiny sniffles and cries from inside making his heart ache.
"Go away..." Akaashi's voice is quiet and broken. Something Bokuto can't ignore though he doesn't open the door yet.
"I can't do that Akaashi. Not when you're like this."
"Please Bo..." Bokuto grits his teeth, resisting the urge to go inside and wrap Akaashi in a strong comforting hug. Telling him that he loves him and will literally kick Kuroo's ass. He sighs and presses his forehead against the door.
"I won't come in if you don't want me to, ok? But I'm not leaving. I'll sit out here until you're ready. However long that takes. I'll be here." He doesn't get a response. Just hears Akaashi try to conceal his cries. He sighs and is about to sit on the ground when he hears Akaashi choke on his words.
"-me in-"
"What?" He hears the boy clear his throat and take a deep breath.
"Come in." Without hesitation, he throws the door open and races to the boy who is curled up on the ground, leaning against the wall, eyes red, cheeks damp. He's instantly on the ground beside him, bringing him into a strong hug, listening to Akaashi cry harder.
"Shhh, it's ok. It's ok. Shhh, I'm here. I'm right here." He chokes on his cries, head buried in Bokuto's chest, arms around his neck tightly. "Just breathe, I need you to take some deep breaths." He tries to do so, the air getting caught on a cry, making his body shake. "Shhhhh it's ok. Try again. In and out. In and out just like this." Bokuto takes deep breaths as well, feeling Akaashi mimic him. "Good job. Let's take another one, ok? In and out." They take one together. Again and again, they breathe.
Akaashi's cries come to a stop and body stops shaking. Soon they are both just slowly breathing together. Bokuto's hands rub Akaashi's back as he whispers in his ear. "There you go. You're ok." Akaashi sighs and nods in his chest, before pulling back slightly. Their bodies are still close. Legs tangled together on the floor as Akaashi wipes his eyes and cheeks.
"Thank you..." He sniffles as a few more tears fall. He gives up wiping his cheeks as tears continuing to fall, feeling annoyed and too emotionally exhausted to care. He shivers through when Bokuto's big calloused hands cup his cheeks, rough thumbs running across the soft skin of his cheek. The action making his tears stop completely.
"Listen to me, you are one of the most amazing, beautiful, caring people I know. God, no matter what happens or what people say or do, none of that changes." Akaashi's eyes look up at Bokuto, wide and curious about where he could be going with this. "Akaashi..." Bokuto licks his dry lips and gulps. He needs to do this. "I want you to know that no matter what I'm always going to be on your side. Always. Because you deserve the world. And...and because I love you." Bokuto blushes hard but keeps eye contact, watching Akaashi's eyes widen with shock, breath catching and stopping.
God, he couldn't even think. Could barely process what came from Bokuto's lips. Lips Akaashi would spend hours fantasizing about kissing. God Bokuto had no idea what he did to him. He couldn't breathe. Couldn't move, he was glued down by Bokuto's intense gaze. A gaze filled with so much adoration and love. Even after everything Akaashi had done. How shameful it was. Bokuto's gaze looked at him like he was an angel, a god. Akaashi felt helpless under those eyes.
He tried to speak. Tried to force words past the lump in his throat, but he couldn't. Because no words could describe what he was feeling at this moment. Couldn't describe how badly he wanted Bokuto and how much he loved him.
So, he took a deep breath, hugged him closer, rose to his knees, and leaned in until their lips were mere inches apart. Until he could feel Bokuto's warm shaky breath exhale and fall onto his slightly parted lips. They both glanced down at each other, eyes coming back up to the eyes before they closed and leaned in. Their lips met softly, almost too soft for Akaashi but he couldn't change that. He couldn't bring himself to move and deepen the kiss until they were both breathless. Because, either way, the kiss was perfect. Because it was a kiss with Bokuto.
