Bokuto was mad. The three of them stood by the kitchen, Kuroo facing them. Bokuto had his arms crossed as he stood slightly in front of Akaashi protectively. Kuroo cleared his throat and scratched the back of his neck, trying to come up with words to explain himself. Apologize.
"Are you gonna say something or are you just gonna stand there?" Bokuto asked coldly, which made Akaashi elbow him in the side lightly. Telling him not to be so harsh. Kuroo gulped again.
"Ahh right uhh sorry I just..." He took a deep breath and stood up straight, hands by his sides. "What I did to the both of you was wrong and really fucked up. I was an asshole and I don't expect you to forgive me I just-"
"Good because I don't." Kuroo stopped short and his eyes widened while his heart dropped.
"Bo-" Akaashi started but Bokuto wasn't having it.
"He made you cry Akaashi. Why the hell would I forgive him after that." Akaashi sighed. Bokuto didn't care about what Kuroo did to him, only cared about what he did to Akaashi.
"I get that but still."
"No, so if that's all you have to say-"
"No, it's not I have more." Bokuto sighed and then nodded for him to continue, still feeling really unforgiving. "Your right Bo, you shouldn't forgive me. I really fucked up and I hate myself for what I did so I'm really not asking for you t-to forgive me but I am asking for you to...to at least, I dunno tolerate me." Kuroo could feel his emotions begin to bubble up. Like they did with Kenma, but then, he was able to choke them back down. Now he wasn't so sure he would be able to stop.
"Why the hell should I tolerate you! Yeah you fucked up! Who the hell would do something like that!?"
"Bokuto!" Akaashi stepped in front of him and glared. "I get that you're mad but now you're taking things too far." Bokuto went to speak but stopped when he saw the look in Akaashi's eyes. He then turned to face Kuroo who's eyes were already glossy as his emotions started to rise. "Kuroo, what you did was wrong and hurt." Kuroo looked down with guilt. He really did feel terrible and Akaashi could tell. "But I can tell that you know that and do truly feel sorry. So I forgive you." Kuroo looked up, surprised while Bokuto went to protest.
"Akaashi, you can't just-"
"Yes I can Bokuto, and you should too. But either way, I don't think that's what's important right now." Bokuto looked at him confused while Kuroo gulped. He could tell where this was going. "Kuroo, I can tell that there is something going on with you. If you don't want to tell us then I will respect that but we're your friends. We care about you. You know you can tell us anything. Right?" Akaashi stepped closer to Kuroo. "So if you can, talk to us. I'll listen." Kuroo nervously played with his hands in front of him while Akaashi looked at him with a worried expression. He'd never seen Kuroo like this, it was unnerving. Kuroo slowly looked up at Bokuto, who still looked mad but he also seemed to be softening. Slightly. Bokuto met his gaze.
"Fine, tell us your fucking sob story, but don't expect it to change my mind." Kuroo nodded and then took a deep breath.
"Ok, I'll tell you."
And so he did. He told basically everything he had told Kenma not too long ago. Kept it straight forwards while doing everything he could to keep his emotions at bay. It wasn't really working. He choked on his words, stuttered while keeping the tears back. Akaashi and Bokuto listened carefully, Bokuto's gaze easing and relaxing while hearing how much his friend was hurting.
"I-I know none of this justifies my actions. They were still really fucked up. And I'm so fucking sorry..." A tear escaped one of his eyes as Akaashi sighed and quickly hugged him.
"I'm sorry you have to go throw this. But we're here for you. You don't have to keep this stuff hidden." Kuroo hesitantly hugged back and nodded in Akaashi's shoulder.
They pulled away once they heard Bokuto sigh and walk over to them. Akaashi gave him a small smile before stepping back so Bokuto could talk to him. Bokuto placed a hand on Kuroo's shoulder, getting him to look up and meet his gaze. "I'm still mad at you." Kuroo nodded slowly, feeling more tears threaten to escape. "But, no one should have to go through this alone. Even if they fucked up." Kuroo let out a relieved breath as Bokuto brought him into a hug.
"I'm sorry. I'm so fucking sorry." Kuroo cried out, his emotions finally overflowing as he clung to Bokuto.
"I know. I'm sorry too." Kuroo nodded while he took deep breaths, staying in Bokuto's hold until he calmed down.
Luckily it didn't take too long. His breathing evened out and he was finally able to take an entire breath. It was then that they pulled away. Kuroo wiped his eyes and sighed. "Fuck sorry. I can't remember the last time I've cried like this." Bokuto chuckled a little and patted his back.
"Come on, we still have a ton of time to kill." Kuroo nodded and gave them both a grateful smile before the three of them headed back to the group.
"You guys good now?" Suga asked curiously, still curled up in Daichi's lap who was now playing with his hair. Kuroo looked at Bokuto who gave him a smile.
"Yeah, we uhh I think we're good. And umm I do also want to just quickly apologize to all of you for everything I guess."
"It's ok Kuroo," Suga reassured and Kuroo sighed while looking around the room, eyes landing on Lev and Yaku who had returned at some point and were now cuddled on a couch.
"I see you two are good now as well." Yaku sighed.
"Yup, well I'm still mad but we're good."
"Finally we can all be in the same room," Akaashi said relieved while walking back to where he and Bokuto were sitting.
"Which means we can finally do something!" Oikawa grins at Suga who grins back, the two clearly plotting in their heads. Because we obviously need even more drama.
"No alcohol though please, my head just settled," Akaashi says while sitting down in Bokuto's lap. Kuroo went to where Kenma was and sat next to him who gave him a small smile. He was glad Kuroo seemed to be feeling better.
"Oh god no. Nope, no alcohol ever again." Suga said, which got him a look from Daichi. "What?!" He asked defensively.
"Never again? Come on, be realistic." Suga pouted and slumped into Daichi's chest.
"Fine, for at least a week." Daichi chuckled and wrapped his arms back around the boy's waist.
"Anyway what are we all going to do then?"
"Well, I was thinking we could play never have I ever and whoever loses has to like answer a really personal question," Suga explained which got everyone's attention.
"Ooo that sounds like fun, I'm in!"
"Me too!" Everyone agreed and settled around the living room, squished on couches or sitting on the floor.
"Ok, well play the non-drinking way so everyone gets ten lives. Who wants to start?"
"Oh I do!" Oikawa says eagerly, ready to get some people back for last night.
"Okay go ahead."
"Mmmk, never have I ever been arrested."
