I spent a few days with Bucky and his family, before spending a night of Steve's house just to make sure Bucky's family didn't get tired of me. Saturday night we went to the game and all stayed the night at Steve's since his father wouldn't beer home.

—/—December 6th 1941–/—

I woke up, still shock to be in my own apartment. Of course I couldn't move to far away from my boys so I had only made it a block away, but it was completely mine and now one could change that. Last Christmas had been spent with Bucky's family with Steve and his father showing up later, which was bound to happen again this year, so i had taken the liberty of getting gifts for his family which now lined my one and only room.

I got out of bed and turned on the radio as I started to get dressed into my nurses uniform. The same old thing seemed to play everyday now, "will America join the war?" Honestly it has started to scare me. I didn't want Bucky and Steve to go away like that, risk their lives, I could lose everything I got.

I walked down the stairs and found Steve waiting for me in the lobby.

"Your early today" I said as I saw him.

"Can't leave a girl like you waiting" he said as he pretended to flirt.

"Why's that?"

"Honestly" he said as he leaned in. "I'm scared you might set the place on fire or try to learn how to fly."

"Mr. Rodges, you flatter me" we laughed as we started walking. There wasn't a single moment between me Steve and Bucky that was every filled with silence, we're always had a support, an idea, a stiupid joke. We became extremely close friends, I don't think any one has been this close as friends. Me and Steve made our way to a diner, eating breakfast and enjoying the other through out the morning.

Eventually it came timer me to work, so Steve had walked me to the hospital. Thought my shift I had an uneasy feeling, wishing I was with the boys doing something to take my mind off fit. I didn't want to be here, it just felt like something was gonna go wrong.

It wasn't till about 3, when I was about half an hour from being off that I found out what the uneasy feeling was for.

"What's shaken Lizzie?" I asked as I came up to the nurses station where another Nurse was distracted from her charts.

"The U.S. is joining the war" She said as she looked up at me.

"What do you mean?" I said in disbelief.

"Girls!" We both to another nurse just coming in. "Come quick!" We followed her into the main Nurses station where the radio was blaring out about Hawii.

"What happened?" I asked as I came in.

"We were attacked." One of the girls said.

"...We are still getting reports" the voice on the radio said as the room went silent. "So far we can tell the casualties are great, But survivors are fighting back, were getting word about The president scrambling forces, preparing already for the counter attack, men lining up at recruitment centers to enlist. This is it folks. The United States of American, has joined the war." My heart stopped. Bucky and Steve would already be down at the recruitment center. I looked to the clock and it was 15 minutes before I was allowed to leave, but I couldn't wait.

"When did this start?" I asked one of the girls.

"8 a.m., its been on the radio all day, I didn't notice till now, that's when I called every one in."

"Lizzie, I need you to cover for me" I said as I turned.

"You got it hun." I ran out the door, quickly making my way to the locker room to change and grab my stuff before I ran out of the hospital. I ran to Steve's house first, pounding on the door until Steve finally opened up. He was still in civilian clothes, no uniform.
