Kara's point of view:
- Day before Birthday -
"What day is it, tomorrow?" My dad asks really excited, pretending that his spoon is a mic as I come down the stairs.
At least he is not singing in his shorts.
"January 27" I say trying to smile for him.
"Why aren't you happy? It's your birthday tomorrow" He says as he goes back to his pancakes.
"Cause, MAYBE, it's also the day that mom died" I say as I start eating my breakfast.
"Also the day that Iris and I divorced, the woman I was in love with for years. But I'm happy" He says putting my 7 layered pancake down for me.
"Thanks" I say with a smile.
"There is the smile" He says sitting down next to me at the table and eating his pancake.
"What did you except? You drew me in my pancake with a question mark" I say laughing a bit.
"Kara, I have to tell you something. I-" He starts saying until he get's inturrupted by his phone.
"Hey" He says after he picks up the phone.
He is now standing up next to the table on the phone.
He hangs up.
"I'm sorry, I- I have to go" He says.
"It's okay dad. More pancake for me" I say taking over his 15 layers pancake.
He laughs a bit, picks up his bag and walks out the door.
"Bye..." I whisper.
