He wasn't looking for her.
And yet he found her. He promised himself to forget about her and never come back to memories about her again. He was looking for a woman who was her complete opposite, as long as he didn't compare them to himself. He found no one else entirely, though none of the women had such fiery red hair or such penetrating emerald eyes.
He couldn't forget her, and when she reappeared... he couldn't take his eyes off her, as if he wanted to absorb everything she was. Even if they never belonged together.
Years filled with war have passed. He had no time to think about her every minute of his existence, but she would come to him in dreams, leaving him alone as soon as he awoke. He dreamed that she would be gone forever...
She gradually disappeared from his dreams and from his thoughts...
But she never was gone forever.

He couldn't sleep.
There was a celebration in the camp for the election of the new leader she became. In a way, he had a feeling that this might be a good the way when Sabine refused to lead the Mandalorians. In fact, he hoped that the young Mandalorian would change her mind yet, he saw in her the qualities of the wise old leaders. However, this did not happen. She was going to go back to the Rebellion. He understood her choice, if he could, he would have returned to the Protectors.
The Protectors died and he had no one left, except for the... Bo-Katan Kryze, whom he had sworn allegiance to just before she raised her Darksaber, and they all fell to their knees in front of her.
In front of her. Not in front of a saber. The Darksaber was nothing without its owner.
He saw the determination on Bo-Katan's face, though her eyes hid fear. She felt the weight of responsibility that suddenly fell on her shoulders, and despite her own stubbornness, bravery and courage, she could not fully accept Sabine's choice. He could see it in her eyes - that veiled fear that she would destroy everything again.
"It was a mistake," she began quietly. Fenn didn't answer, just shifted his gaze to her, staring at the profile of her face, which was marked with concern. "I shouldn't have accepted the Darksaber from Sabine. She would be a better leader. I will destroy everything I create again..."
"You won't be alone," he whispered.
He hardly remembered her voice. It was completely different from the one he had heard in his youth. Several years ago, he could sense this hint of excitement as she prepared for the next battle. There was some joy in her, although she took the civil war very seriously.
Now she was much more experienced in combat and in life. She looked tired of constantly saving a world that had long ago fallen to pieces for so many people. Yet there were still those who believed in her, even though she had made so many mistakes.
And he joined them.
They needed her.
The image flickered when Ursa Wren called Lady Bo-Katan to ask for her help in an action they were about to carry out to free her husband. Lady Kryze was in the cockpit of her own ship, he supposed. He couldn't read the expression on her face, but he kept to the side to Ursa was the only person Bo-Katan saw.
"Ursa Wren," the red-haired woman snorted. He knew this wasn't what she was expecting, but maybe she sensed something. She must have heard the rumors of Gar Saxon's death.
