The night came and went as quickly as the years before. Boyle grew up fast, her paws grew bigger and her teeth got sharper. Before we knew it, we were out matched and Boyle was more then we could handle. She moved from the bed then back out into the woods. She preferred it there, the wild. Free from the constraints of walls. She'd come back many times over the years, always keeping Ruth close; keeping Ruth safe.

A loud alarm rang across the room. Ruth sprung up from her bed and glanced at the clock. "I'm going to be late. I'm going to be late!" She threw the blankets to the ground and struggled into a pair of jeans that lay on the floor. Stumbling across the room she managed to grab hold of the t-shirt that hung across a chair, with a quick sniff she pulled it over her head. A letter from Davidson West High School lay open on her desk, she snatched the letter and tossed it into the trash. "I'll tell mom about it later, I promise I won't get another detention." She looked up at Enola who was laying at the foot of her bed. She slid off the bed lazily and gave Ruth a disappointed look. Enola was huge. She stood nearly 3 feet tall and was about 5 feet long. Her fur was thick white and paws the size of Ruth's hands. A fluffy main of silver hair wrapped around her neck and down her back. Enola shook the sleep out of her fur and let out a big yawn before following Ruth downstairs.

At the bottom of the stairs they would walk into the kitchen, straight ahead was the patio doors that led to the backyard, and to the right down a step was the living room. A dark green couch lay across the floor providing a perfect view to the television that hung over the mantle. Ruth ran through the living room and into the foyer where her backpack hung heavy on the jacket hook by the front door. Rushing to get to school on time; she threw the door open and both she and Enola rushed outside into the warm spring air. Ruth instinctively bolted for her car as Enola reluctantly headed for the woods. "I'm sorry, Enola. I can't bring you to school again, you remember what happened last time, I can't get suspended and a detention on the same day, and I'm clearly going to be late." Ruth unlatched the door to her car and swung it open releasing the hot air form inside. She reluctantly sat on the scolding leather seats and drove to school.
