Owen's POV
Both me and Claire went downstairs to check what ruined our little moment, I almost freaking kissed her! "You and I will NEVER have peace! This is a threat James!", I heard my dad shouting. I felt Claire grabbing onto my bicep. "It's better if we go.", I heard her squealing next to me. Claire's mother walked over to us. "Uh.. I believe.. things didn't work out. Though I'm happy to see it did between you two.", she nodded at Claire who was still holding onto me. Claire let go and turned red. "S-Sorry.", she stuttered. My father came out of the room, clearly pissed. "We're leaving. Where's Peter?", he looked around for my little brother. He was playing with Claire's sister. "Let go off my son.", my father commanded and took Peter away from her. My brother started to cry. "I want to stay!", he whimpered. My father didn't care. He pulled me away from Claire. She looked at me getting dragged away by my father. "No! Wait!", I protested.Claire's POV
I watched how the Northern king dragged his two sons away. Owen's eyes low-key screamed despair and the desire to be.. with me? I wanted to run after him but I know I can't. I'll write him a letter so we can meet again. I suddenly started to realize how much I wanted to be with him and that I couldn't live a moment without him or thinking about him. Am I falling for this guy?****The Next Day****
Owen's POV
This morning, I received a letter. It turned out to be Claire's. She wanted to meet again. The thoughts of seeing her again woke the butterflies in my stomach up. I was quite sure I was in love with her. "Dad, I'm going out!", I called before leaving to the stables. I saddled up my horse, Glory. He was a beautiful white horse with brown spots. I rode away to the Southern kingdom. Once I arrived two guards stopped me. "Who are you and what are you doing here?", one guard asked. "I'm here for the princess. I'm a friend of hers.", I casually answered. The guard wanted to say something but got interrupted by a familiar voice. Claire appeared behind them. "Don't worry, I know him.", she assured the guards. "Your horse can stay in our stable.", she told me to follow her and we went to the stables. I hopped off Glory. "So.. what now?", I asked and looked at her. "I don't know..", she shrugged and stared back. My eyes were locked in hers. We stared into each other's eyes in silence. Before I could even realize it, I pulled her closer. Our lips brushed against each other. When I broke the kiss I stared down at her.Claire's POV
The feeling of his lips against mine was the greatest feeling ever. I glanced up at him and went for another kiss. We were so desperate for each other, more than I ever realized. "I love you.", I heard Owen muttering against my lips. Those words made me gulp but I knew I felt the same. "I love you too.", I replied. I heard footsteps coming closer and gasped. Quickly I pulled Owen behind a hay bale. We waited quietly. Eventually the footsteps faded away. Owen pushed me into a pile of hay and I pulled him with me. We both giggled like little kids. Gently, he removed some hay out of my hair. "You're beautiful.", he spoke softly and gave me a tender kiss. I blushed at those words. "Claire..", he started. I noticed how he seemed a little nervous. "Will you be my queen?", he asked with a smile. "As in.. marrying you?", I asked surprised. "Yes..", he replied nervously. "But.. we can't be together.. You know that.", it hurt to say that. "I know but.. we can try.. right?", Owen glared at me like a little kid who asked if everything would be okay. "Yeah.. I guess we can. I mean, I want to try. I love you, Owen.", I answered.
