______prevented y/n from reaching the people she missed and desperately wanted to see. she only caught a glimpse of them before she was asked many demanding and personal questions. "why did they kidnap you?" a reporter asked. "does your father's death have anything to do with it?" asked another. "what about your mom being locked up?" y/n's eyes widened as she wasn't aware of her mom being in prison.
the league had set her free when she agreed to work with them and vowed to not tell anyone. she was roaming the streets of yokohama city trying to find a way back home or to u.a, when a crowd of paparazzi and reporters came up to her. the news of her being found spread so quickly that the heros and her friends came soon after. it was all too overwhelming for her.
"move." the familiar voice of her homework teacher, mr. aizawa settled her nerves a little. she turned in his direction and saw him making his way through the crowd of nosy people. when he reached her he held out his hand and motioned for her to follow him. which she did.
y/n saw tobio, ochaco, and todoroki once they were out of the crowd and she couldn't feel even more happier. her two best friends rushed towards and engulfed her in a bone-crushing hug, while todoroki stayed put. "we missed you!" the two cried out. "they didn't do anything to you right?" ochaco asked, as she pulled away to see y/n's face. "no they didn't." y/n said and relief washed over both ochaco and tobio.
"good because if they did, i would've beat their ass." the boy mumbled into y/n's shoulder. he had yet to let go of his friend, as he was too scared that she'll disappear again. "i'm sure you would've." y/n muttered. her eyes traveled until they landed on the dual-haired boy who stood not too far away from the trio. ochaco noticed and whispered, "you should go talk to him." y/n nodded then pried tobio off of her.
she slowly made her way up to todoroki and when she was in front of him, she saw that he had bags under his eyes. his hair was messy with some strands of red and white intermixing with each other. he didn't look like the todoroki she knew, he looked different. it shocked her to see how much he was affected by her kidnapping.
"shoto." she spoke. he looked at her and although her appearance was the same as his, messy and drained, he still thought she was beautiful. he missed her presence and in her absence, he realized just how much he loved her. he felt stupid for ignoring her before and wish he could go back and fix it. knowing that it wasn't possible, he spoke to his mom and midoriya, who both told him to just tell y/n how he felt. she surely felt the same way right?
y/n felt a pair of arms wrap around her and jumped slightly from the two different temperatures that radiated off of them. from that analysis, she knew that it was todoroki, and he was the only person close enough to hug. this was unexpected of him though. y/n never thought that she would feel this kind of comfort ever again. she thought that the last time they would ever hug was right before he left, so she savored this feeling as she hugged back.
"i- i love you." he muttered softly, with the sole purpose of only her hearing it. which she did, but she didn't feel how she would've felt a few months ago. when all she cared about was todoroki and getting him back into her life. she still had love for him, but not enough to make her fall for him again. now, how was she supposed to tell him that she didn't feel the same way?
"shoto... i- i don't know if i feel.." she trailed off not wanting to finish the sentence and end up hurting him. shoto was a little bit shocked, but not surprised by her answer. he had a feeling that she was drifting away from him, especially since he wasn't there when he needed to be. it still stung his heart a little because he knew exactly who she started falling for. he knew who was there for her and was always supporting her no matter the situation. tobio.
he wasn't necessarily mad at tobio, he was just envious. if y/n was happy though, he was ok with it. he just had to learn to move on. "it's ok. you don't have to say it back, i just wanted you to know." y/n felt horrible. they separated from the hug since the air grew awkward and y/n said bye before making her way to her teacher. her phone rang, so she retrieved it from her pocket and turned it on to see a text message.
one message from [unknown]
unknown
remember, we're still watching you
5:26 pmshe frowned at the message before closing her phone and stuffing it back into her pocket. "everything alright?" mr. aizawa asked her, concern lacing his words. she nodded before replying. "yea everything's fine." the older man didn't fully believe her but decided to question her more later. "ok, we're going to the police station. they need to ask you questions and we need to figure out your new living situation." he led y/n to a black car, which she assumed to be his. "i don't see why they won't just let you rest first." he muttered as he let her in.
y/n hummed at her teacher's distaste towards the way of the system and she kind of agreed with him.
_____.
the sound of tapping echoed through the interrogation room as y/n nervously taped on the table she sat at and waited for the detective to arrive. she didn't like how they didn't allow mr. aizawa to come into the room as well, but she knew that he was watching and if anything were to happen he'll be quick to come and help her.
"ms. l/n?" an authoritative voice spoke as a tall man walked through the door. "yes." she said, sitting up straight in her chair. "ok before i get to the technical stuff, i just wanted to ask you if you are ok." he said taking note of her disheveled state. she nodded. "ok fine, just a little tired."
"ok, i'll try to get this over with quickly so you can rest." he reassured before continuing. "tell me everything that happens while you were with the league." y/n obliged and told him everything minus the part where she agreed to be a double agent. from the first conversation they had to their explanation for killing her father. which was because [fathers name] had a chance to help shigaraki when was younger, but he didn't, which caused the villain to hold a grudge over him. she also told the detective about how they kidnapped her because of her quirk and what she could potentially do with it.
"that's all?" he asked, writing down information on a notepad. y/n resisted the urge to tell him about what they're making her do, but didn't want to risk the chance of her friends getting hurt. "yup that's everything." she said. "ok, now as far as your living situation goes, your aunt from the states has agreed to become your guardian. are you ok with that?
'the states? i'll have to move?' she thought as she processed the information that was just given to her. "so i'll have to move?" she asked and sighed when the detective nodded. "so i won't be a hero." she muttered. a frown appeared on the detective's face. " there's plenty of hero schools in the state."
"i know, but it won't be the same and i don't know if being a hero is what i even want to do. seeing what it did to my parents and all." it saddened y/n to know that she won't be able to team up with her classmates in future battles, but she could always cheer them on from the sidelines.
