Kaya's POV:
"Shit," I muttered to myself. It was already 10 am. I had barely gotten any sleep last night. I was a music journalist for the New York Times and was up late last night finishing up a story. I had so much to do today for the newspaper. I had a concert to go to and after the concert, and article to write about it. I decided against staying in the bed any longer and got up. I took a shower, got dressed, and headed to the office.

"Hey," I said to my best friend Aliyah as I walked into the office. We both worked as music journalists there and we're going to the concert together tonight. "What's up"

"Ah, nothing much," Aliyah replied. "What time does this concert start tonight, and who is preforming?"

"It starts at six I believe. Some guy named Jack is performing."

"Okay, I'll see you there."

Aliyah and I arrived at Irving Plaza for the concert. Nothing special seemed to be going on so we sat at a little table in the corner and ordered some food.

"WHAT DO YOU THINK," Aliyah practically had to yell at me over all the loud music.

"I THINK ITS GOOD SO FAR," I yelled back. The music was good. It was catchy enough but didn't have anything too special about it. At least the guy preforming was cute.

Just as Aliyah and I began talking about work, and our personal lives, a guy sat down beside us in an empty seat.

"Hey," The guy began talking as Aliyah and I looked at each other confused. "My name is Ace, I noticed you across the room and I feel like we've met before..." He turned looking at me now.

"No I don't think we have..." I've never seen this guy a day in my life and I have no idea why he's talking to me.

"Well I'm Ace." There was something about him that was perfect in a way. He was tall and lean. He had a perfectly clean shaven face and bright brown eyes. He was actually really cute.

"I'm Kaya." I replied.
"Kaya...that's a cute name."

At this point, Aliyah had left to go home. She was tired so I told her I could just send her some notes about what happened at the show and help her write the article tomorrow. It was just Ace and I now.

We started talking about the most random things for the next few hours. Our lives, what we wanted in the future and our families. He told me he was from Kentucky and was actually really close friends with the performer. I told him I was from Connecticut but moved to New York because I had a passion for writing and print journalism. Something about they way he spoke made me feel like I could listen to him forever. It felt like he was the only person in the room.

A/n: This first chapter is not really good but I promise it will get better lol. Also shoutout to OTM, Milan and the Harlows angels group chat on Twitter for helping me come up with ideas!
