The sled was placed into the bed of the truck as everyone was dazed in their own imaginations. I’ll sneak in the bed while Josh’s Dad was in the driver’s side arranging items so there would be more room for his family. Luckily the dogs were far away enough not to spot me going under the tarp on the sled. I made sure that I didn’t disturb the cover too much so they wouldn’t get any suspicion. Wondering if I can learn what my Uncle meant by the lesson he was talking about.

The next thing I heard the dogs being placed also on the bed as the hitch was closed. I was being quiet and hoping they didn’t catch me. The truck engine started as the doors slammed shut, too. The wheels started to move on the snow crunching on top of it to the destination.

Hearing my siblings ask where I was, crossing my paws that they wouldn’t find me. Or pick up my scent on the sled that was drowned down by the snow and cold weather. “Do you know where Demon is at, Silver?”  Angel asked.

“I don’t know?” he responded unsure of where I was at.

“You’re the only one who talked to him last.” she was puzzled.

“I know, but he disappeared, and I can’t smell him anywhere before we came up here.”

“I wonder if he disappeared because there was something weird going on. I agree with you Angel it is like Demon is having different doggy behavior. I don’t know if I know my own brother anymore.” Cloud said.

“Yeah, the more days that pass by the worse he becomes.” Angel announced.

“What are you pups talking about?” Mom asked lost from the conversation.

“You don’t see it?” she asked.

“No I don’t. I just think he is going through a tough time right now at the house. Learning a lesson or two is the best thing for him right now.”

“Demon is having a hard time finding himself with strikes of realization from the questions of a new mind pup. His new life brought his past struggles from the journey of looking through wildlife that surrounds him. The second chance to make things right with his family will come once the lesson has been learned.  He must take the first challenge that’s awaits him.” Uncle Sin Fiendwolf laughed with secrets hidden in his mind. I had the feeling he knew where I was exactly hiding.

“What do you mean past struggles?”  Mom asked not getting any clue what he was talking about.

“These are the answers only he can answer himself; I am forbidden to know such knowledge. I can only help him find his way with the information he is willing to lend me. I had been told in my dreams to watch over him from the spirits of the past life. They tell you everything that has happened with the reasoning’s behind it. There is a task he must complete, before he reaches the other world bringing him peace for his unrested soul. That is being troubled only a lucky few get a chance to redeem their own mistakes.” Uncle Sin Fiendwolf said confusing the others with these odd responses.

“What is up with your mysterious answers?” Silver asked wondering where I went and what is going on with Uncle. We moved closer to where the races were being hold. There are crowds speaking with curiosity of who was going to win the race this year. They said the big shot last year ran hardly on any sleep being deprived of energy. Winning the race with his foolish pride that could cause his teams death. Their family was known to win their races with their tough inspiration and determination.

The truck finally stopped with the engine off as the doors creak open.  Shutting only a few seconds afterwards the crowds were traveling away from here.  Perhaps going to the start line as I waited for the back hitch to open, but nothing happened. Then I heard Josh’s Dad talking to someone else about where to go since they changed up a few things with the course. It’s been awhile since they ran this course last year, and they changed a few things for the best. There were problems where the routes were too dangerous for the sled teams.
