I saw my breath form into small clouds in the frigid air. I looked at the new area, wondering where I was, unsure of what had happened. My memory was all mixed up, and I could not remember anything. There was a clutter of tools on the desks that were left from work. Boxes in the ceiling rafters stored items that I wasn't sure what they were. A light was attached to the ceiling showing that the light bulb was well used, with black burn marks.
There were eight big dogs surrounding the area. At least that is what I thought they were. There were puppies close to me, four of us including myself. What had happened to me? I was in a garage, with the door open and the sun shining in as the bright day began.
I was still trying to figure out what was going on. Then a calm voice whispered to reassure me, “Everything is alright, honey.” Sensing my wandering mind. “I know everything seems strange in this new world.”
I turned around to see a Siberian husky lying close to me, keeping me warm from the cold, chilled air. It had light red orange fur with white patches. “Who are you?” I asked curiously. I knew instantly something was wrong. This doesn’t seem right... Looking behind me, I stared at the black curled tail that connected to my rear end. That isn’t right...what's going on here, I thought to myself, and... when did I grow fur? This all feels strange and out of place. I looked up at my hands that were no longer hands, instead they were paws.
“What do you mean, who am I?” The female voice asked. “Silly goose, I'm your mother, and these are your littermates.”
No, this can't be right! Everything seems all mashed together. My mind is all fogged up at this moment. No, this is out of place, I don’t belong here or at least I think that is true. My Mom was wondering what had gotten into me at this bizarre moment.
My siblings were already trying to learn how to walk while I lay there, stunned. I was nudged by a muzzle pushing into my soft fur. Seeing my mother’s eyes staring at me.
“Come on, honey, your sisters and brother are trying to learn how to walk.” Mom said, insisting on that I should try to learn how to walk. Four legs? I don’t remember that many, is it easy to walk on all fours?
“Come on, Bro, let’s do this and teach these ladies we can master this.” The voice was my brother Silver's, he was gray with patches of white fur.
“Alright,” I said unsure of myself.
“Come on, dude, you need to build up your confidence.”
Are you serious? It’s not my confidence that is bothering me. It’s the fact that I don’t know where I am. All I know is that I am in this garage with a sled. Wait, a wooden sled, Siberian huskies are around me. This means that they are sled dogs! If my Mother is a dog, my sisters, and brother are puppies, that means I am a pup too.
“Alright, I will try to stand on all four legs, if that is possible.” I said. I was not used to standing that way.
“Just try it. Come on, unless you’re chicken?” Angel teased me. She had the same light red orange fur with white patches as Mom.
“I am not a chicken!” I replied.
“Then get on with it.” Cloud replied back at me. She had the same fur as Silver. They all had brown eyes that looked this way. The girls mastered it before I even got the chance to bring up my courage.
As I pulled myself up to stand, all four legs were trembling. I fell to the ground. I did not last long. I was able to master it the third time around. Walking around, I started exploring this world that seemed awfully familiar. The white clouds that covered the blue sky, scattered all across the sky.
