I eventually taught myself how to skate after having too many meltdowns about driving to school. I really hate cars, it's an irrational fear and if I have to I will ride in one however I will try and avoid it as much as possible. I guess it's a weirder version of being afraid of planes.

Although I've been skating for around four years I know minimal tricks I just use it to get from point A to point B like home to school which is currently where Arlo and I are heading. It is around a 20 minute skate so we have just enough time.

"Hey Lowey where was Cisco this morning, he usually isn't out that early?" I call from behind.

He turns to look at me his similar blue eyes glistening in the morning sun and dark brown hair waving softly in the wind. I have to admit our family has pretty good genes, well all the girls seem to think so when they fawn over my brothers like stray dogs to a bone. I've always been quite self-conscious especially about my weight but my brothers are usually there to damper those thoughts before they manifest.

"He said he was having extra difficulty with his new client's motorbike and wanted to be done by today, apparently the client is very demanding" he shrugs while doing air quotes over 'demanding'.

My oldest brother Cisco and his friend Connie opened Bronze Mechanics when they were 18 and now it is a very successful business. Bronze is our surname and Connie seemed think it fitted so he didn't mind his name wasn't included. Harley works there when he's not doing uni work to get his medical degree. Recently they've been forcing Reed to help out since he's unproductive, River got a scholarship for a sports degree specifically boxing, so he isn't forced to work. Reed could have gotten a scholarship too if he bothered to show up to class.

"Do you know if he'll be back tonight? I'm cooking dinner" I ask.

"Fuck yes" he cheers causing me to giggle "I love it when you cook, and yeah I think he's picking you up from school, I have baseball practice".

"You have got to be kidding me" I groan. Cisco picking me up means I have to ride his stupid deathtrap of a motorbike. Fuck.

"It's not that bad Ro, you know Cisco wouldn't let anything bad happen to you"

"That's not the point Arlo" I mutter frustrated. "I don't like any fast transport on a road especially ones I can fly off the back of" I whine.

He just laughs at me. He just skates and laughs at me.

"I'm serious" I deadpan.

"Oh I know you are baby, that's why you're so fucking cute" he teases.

"Fuck off Arlo it's not funny" I say stepping off my board kicking it up and marching towards the joint middle and high school.

"Hey wait up!" I can hear him running to catch up, once he does he slings an arm around my shoulder which I shrug off only for him to wrap it around tighter. "c'mon don't be like that, I'm sorry" he pouts using his version of puppy dog eyes.

"Maybe try looking less like a pufferfish and I'll forgive you" I stand still crossing my arms over my chest. He drops the face, reaches into his pocket and slaps a KitKat in my hand.

"Forgive me?" he asks hopefully.

"Of course" I grin standing on my tiptoes to kiss his cheek. The way to my heart is food. "I gotta go now I have tutor in 5 minutes" I say already heading in the direction of the middle school. He waves a goodbye and heads to the high-school building.
